From whence does Sound Stage come?
I stand corrected.  If it’s good enough for Shakespeare, who am I to criticize?
From whence does Sound Stage come?
Whence means “from where”? so saying “from whence” is like saying “from from where”.  Just sayin.  Pedant out.
SET Lovers, what's the one solid state amp you love(d)?
If your speakers are over 90dB, some would say First Watt is preferable to Pass.
SET Lovers, what's the one solid state amp you love(d)?
To be safe, not knowing anything else, go with Pass Labs.   If the cost is too high, go for the Pass-designed First Watt amps.  This would be my default position.  More info might lead you to more specialized solutions.
"Audiophile" Power Cables: The Greatest Audio Conspiracy Theory of All Time?
If you record the analog output of an audio device at very high resolution playing the same song, with the various power cords, cleanly routed, and then you subtract the output recordings from each other and you get ZERO, then the argument is over...
Open Baffle Experience
@kenjit, isn’t the sound coming out of a boxed speaker port also out of phase?
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
I’ve seen on USAM that there are people who seem to just low-ball everything. Occasionally they get a taker, and then the re-sell it here. Supplemental income, I suppose. Depressing. I guess you could call it arbitrage or market clearing.
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
When I sell a used item, I mark the price as FIRM. My prices are almost always lower than others being currently offered. When somebody lowballs after that, I find it very annoying. It’s hard not to be rude to the low-ballers given those facts.
You want a DAC that sounds *different.* What factor helps you find it?
If you like the MHDT Pagoda idea - (I do)     Non over- sampling     No digital filter     No op-amp     No feedback You might also consider other amps in that “family”.  I think they all use the old 16-bit Phillips TDA1543 R2R chip from 1989...
We Can Make Classic Cars Outperform Today's "SuperCars": Why Not Vintage Audio?
@crustycoot    “The planet is warming at an even more alarming rate than the climate models predicted”.     Please provide your strongest evidence for that statement.
Horn speakers for vintage sound
If you would like a slightly upgraded version of the classic American horn/big woofer concept, and you are DIY-savvy, Pi Speakers might fill the bill.   pispeakers.com 5k goes a long way with Pi Speakers. Also, USAM has a nice used Volti Razz g...
Western Electric looking for consumer feedback to make new tubes
They could probably fill up that extra production capacity by reducing the price on the 300Bs.
Fedex and Ups Damage thread
I think FedEx insurance may cover damage caused in transit based on this experience:  I set up my FedEx system to automatically receive an item without signature.  They chose not to honor my insurance claim because the default is that I accepted t...
Fedex and Ups Damage thread
I stopped using UPS insurance when I learned that the insurance only covers LOSS or THEFT, NOT DAMAGE caused by UPS. Not sure if FedEx is the same.
I miss my Loudness Button and Tone Controls....
You mentioned loudness.  You can set the tone controls as you like for loudness and then turn them on and off with the PR-102 remote.  This is essentially a customizable loudness control.
