Review: Tube Research Labs Dude Tube preamp Gallant_diva, well said. Some guys with SOTA gear suffer from price bias and think that the Dude's too cheap to outperform things costing 3x the price. There is only one way to find out....
Pure Music Question Very nice Timztunz. I am planning on snagging a Pad. I will look for that app. Does it work on N-networks? I know the Remote app does not....
Pure Music Question Bbopman, the remote App works fine with PM. The only thing is you cannot make use of the digital volume control which is no loss since it degrades the sound anyway IMO.
Tripoint Spartan Again, what a pleasant surprise to have a piece of "conditioning technology" that many philes view as an after-thought completely transform a system. It is amazing to me how little we know about this hobby. Someone claimed in another thread that t...
Tripoint Spartan very kool. True breakthrough moments like this are rare in audio. Congrats....
Review: db System Zardoz Ultimo Transport Thanks for reminding me of Arvo. I will snag a few more CDs off of Amazon. Remember, that Amarra and Pure Music are Mac programs....
Review: db System Zardoz Ultimo Transport Very kool to hear that Topsel. You and I essentially have the same upstream equipment (Z + TRL Dude + Samsons). Good synergy abounds or rather abides. BTW, I have some Arvo Part (Passio) but not Tabula Rasa. I will have to check that out.In terms ...
Pure Vinyl/Amarra Gary, since I am a WiFi man, PV requires Airfoil (hijacks airtunes) to play via my modded Airport Express. Apple has some encryption at the AE interface that the channel D guys have not worked around yet (in the works). Amarra piggybacks some of t...
Pure Music Question Bbopman, I am primarily a Redbook man as well (600+ CDs) and feel no real compulsion to pursue Hi Rez at this time. I have Redbook CDs that blows away hi rez material I have heard (24/176). Most of the music I know and love is in that format alrea...
Still lost at sea? Great post Gary. I agree with your sentiments. Similar threads can be found on the Gon ("equipment that has gotten you off the merry-go-round"), and they are always tantalising with the promise (or mirage?) of liberation. While many say they enjoy...
Review: Fried Products FRIED Studio 7 Speaker Laminarflow, thanks for sharing the good news about Fried. Two audio associates of mine (one with 25+ years on the manufacturing side and the other with 20 + years of fairly sophisticated systems) have happily migrated into the Fried camp. One has...
Pure Music Question Bbopman, PM does not work with WiFi yet. They are apparently working on it (I spoke to them). Apple has some encryption involved that blocks "third party" software access to the WiFi stream. Airfoil does allow you to hack into the WiFi stream and ...
NOS Western Electric wire used for power cables?? I have seen a lot worse. This is child's play compared to some other sites I have inhabited. That being said, I am not a fan of censorship in any forum and believe in freedom of expression even if it is deemed ugly. I am also not a fan of aggressi...
The frontier between ''vintage'' and ''junk'' ? The word, which is largely a derivative from the world of wine, is overused simply in the name of salesmanship. In terms of how to define it, that is nebulous. That being said, I did snag a pair of speakers off of Craigslist that I would qualify a...
Here comes the Dude. What to expect? Indeed. Back to the music collection.....enjoy. |
