NAD C 275 Bee Some good feedback; thanks. Doesn’t sound like the NAD will be a good option. My understanding of this amp was that it really provides the power much above its 150 wpc. PS. My pre-amp is a VTL 2.5, so I get plenty of warmth. I really loved my MC25...
Current, Amperage Anyone have thoughts regarding the NAD 275bee amp paired with my Chorus/ Focal 826V speakers. Seems like it has really good ’bottom power’ & great mids/ highs, as well as, plenty of power when you need it. Also a good value. Thanks.
Any Rotel love around here? Looking to power my Sonus Faber Olympica 3 I had a [ Rotel RB-1080 ] in 2003-4. It was great with more than sufficient power for my small Martin Logan speakers. Not sure if you can mono-block this with (2) RB-1080’s or not. That would be super IMO. I am very interested to read more about t...
Current, Amperage @elizabeth Thank you. I agree, and this IS the point of the discussion; What is enough [we know too little is bad, but how much overkill does one need ]?I had a McInotsh MC252 - 250 WPC on either 2, 4 or 8 ohms, and I loved it, but do I need that ...
Current, Amperage @Kosst_AmojanThanks for the feedback; What about a Class D amp in terms of WPC. I realize all of this has a high number of variables built in. Anyone else care to opine on this topic? Does anyone know what the 'Class' rating is for the Mcintosh MC...
Current, Amperage @Erik_Squires this is really was the essance of my original question. So, how much ‘current’ do I need? And, is this a rating or spec that is provided?
Inexpensive Tube Amps Anyone have thoughts on a Dynaco ST-70 tube amp? 40 WPC right?
Current, Amperage @lilmsmaggie yes, sorry, my ‘pre-amp’ is a VTL 2.5. I had an Mcintosh MC252 but sold it a few years ago and my stuff has been in storage. I’m now looking for a new amo as I want to setup my system again. Not sure I want to soend that much again on...
JM Lab Speakers With McIntosh Amp? I run an MC252 with Focal/ JM Labs 836 Chorus line with great results. I use a VTL 2.5 tube pre-amp as well. Not sure if the 926's are really worth the extra $2K or not. These 836's will blow you away!!
Is my amp "High Current"? "High Current is most commonly used to describe an amp with the ability to deliver increasing amounts of current into low impedence loads. The ideal amp would deliver twice the current as the load halves. For example, 100 watts into 8 ohms and 200...
Tube Pre-Amp Question I've been thinking of changing the tubes anyway. People have recommended Telefunken Tubes, and say it's night and day in performance when you do it.
Tube Pre-Amp Question That is right, only when I'm very near...like ear within 6-12 inches away. Does this effect sound when playing music? Should I consider rolling or changing the tubes to a different brand? Also, could this be corrected with better IC's and/ or PC's?
Tube Pre-Amp Question Thanks for the feedback. The "Hum" is actually more like the sound of air/ static...nothing really. Not really a hum, more like nothingness/ sound. If that makes sense.
Question concerning db sensitivity seems like some very different opinions. For some reason I would have thought this issue was less subjective than others. Hmmm?
McIntosh vs. Accuphase So far no one has addressed the specific question ref the Mc252? Anyone have anything to add on this specific product? Thanks. |
