Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
Lewm, my opinion is that all, except the Stanton 881s, COULD be better , for you, on your system, than what you have heard, so far. I personally would start with the Empire. A personal favorite.The 20ss has to my ears a harder edge than the others...

Why no variable resistance MM/MI phono stages? There is, as we see, a market. Soundsmith makes a variable resistance MC stage. Can he not just take out the gain stage?
