LP collection management...what do you guys do? I pay a librarian to catalogue them for me every few years. First time cost me lobster and champagne, or about $100. Then I married her. Now it costs a whole lot more.

Homemade Record Cleaning Fluids?? Gregadd I do not know the cleaning agent that Disc Doctor uses. I had a memory lapse when I typed 'Record'. But it is not alcohol. I know because it is also used for pre-LPs like Edison disc and shellac, which disolve in alcohol. This is the best ...
Homemade Record Cleaning Fluids?? Nope, never nohow. I use reverse ozmosis water, same as my fish get. But no alcohol. After the initial water bath I go with Record Doctor because my recordings are too dear for me to fool with them. The cost per wash is fine because he sells a con...
Advice for new vinyl gear Dougdeacon are you kidding? Maria was one crazy Greek chick. It would have been like dating Medea. But, I suppose, still better than Tom. But you notice he insists his work still has a vinyl issue, and they are good.
where to find Pachelbel"s canon? Pabelson you are a rightous soul. My daughter heard my old recording and it lit a warm fire. She has gone on to play piano (just like all the rest of us audio geeks, right?)sing and collect vinyl (and CDs) and play them on an AR turntable from her...
where to find Pachelbel"s canon? At first I was going to make a cheap joke. Then I skipped it. Then I figured this abusive crew just would not resist slinging it. And I was right. You just can't give a guy a break. And I new the vinlylites would just pile on. I bet you clods don'...
Cartridge break-in: with or without tears? I just glue a sheet of sandpaper over an old Niel Sadaka record and let 'er rip. Leave the volume all the way up and go for a drive until around 4 in the morning. If your house is still there when you get back, mix up a pitcher of martini's (after...
Advice for new vinyl gear Cartridges last a long time. As for break in, some people use special break in records that stroke the electrons in the tight direction, or other tone generators with a special connection through the cartridge. But the non-fetishists and the merel...
Why does the Marantz 10B Tuner sound so amazing ??? My father was one of Sol's early customers on Long Island. He bought everything from him, constituting my introduction to hi-fi.Besides the pre and power amps, he decomissioned his venerable Fischer tuner, which got me really mad because we always...
Tossing out a question about some 'tables... I significantly prefer AR to DUAL, having both. Mine is 22 years old, with only a belt change. There is a recent thread here on vinylnirvana.com which is an AR-centric web site. He sells and services.
Great classical strings LP haul.... So you want my shipping address, right? Or are you just a tease ;-)
What's Your Favorite Rollins album? Way out West is a lot of fun, but Colossus is greatness. Alfie is its own category for great film tracks.
In this corner Groove Glide... Thanks for all your information. I too have the static electricity lifting my mat with record. I need to experiment with a post-last rinse.
AR Turntable Website going online today I bought my AR from the great "Elliot" of 'Esoteric Audio' when his flag flew from Brooklyn in 1982 under a small business loan. He put a Linn Basik arm on it and it is going strong with a new Ring Mat. I will check out the site. |
