Multiple copies of the same album on vinyl?
Yep. I have only three dozen in that category, but that is down by a remarkable fifty just because they were destroyed. Not 'went bad' as you say kindly, but were ruined. Even my wife agrees that it happens enough to buy the cheapest insurance you...
Grace 714 tonearm....any experience?
Grace's salad days have passed in quality and economics. It was a great day she had, and we all learned from her. But there is no reason to persist. My father's Thorens was wood as well. I have one in a box in a dry place, and there she stays.
Few problems on "new" tt
Kill it before it kills your records and your enthusiasm. Let it go and wait as long as your budget demands.
new music recommendations
Of your twenty, I know only Mark Isham. I have some of his stuff from 1986. He does themes to keep solvent. I am disturbed at the concentration of 75% our radio stations into a clump of five right wingers. I used to go to radio to play me new stuf...
Quality: vinyl then versus vinyl now...
There are $30 new ones which you can only find at $200 used. If you get a playable $1.99, of which I have hundreds, then the new ones are usually suprefluous, unless you are really into such comparisons of what is done with master tapes in differe...
Recommendation for marching, war classical music.
Scottish Rant - The World Champion City of Washington Pipe Band, on Maggie's Music (MM223) will decalcify Braveheart's spine. Katie bar the door!
Top Ten Classical SACD's
La Folia - various composers 1490-1701, by Jordi Savall on AliaVox (AV9805). Beautiful selections, great performances, well engineered.
Best female manly voice?
Nina Simone perhaps. Power, bite, grit but musical. She died recently. Or Judy Henske; listen to her 'Baltimore Oriole' cut. New one would be Thea Gilmore, she has great lyrics.
SDS suitability for 50-Hz motor Linn LP12
My Lingo has neither backwash nor too lean base. So I'm guessing that it needs some other contributing factor to be manifest. So my gut goes with Lugnut. Get that used Lingo and be happy.
Is Nipper real?
OK as I suspected, I stand in heaps of scorn with gales of derisive laughter. I guess its no use bringing up my whale with the metronome tail.
Whats on your turntable tonight?
A near mint of Mercury Living Presence Ernst Bloch Concerto Grosso 1&2 performed by Howard Hanson and the Eastman-Rochester Symphony. Price marked: sixty five cents.
Favorite Music When Having Sex
Carmina Burana you silly boys...
Is Nipper real?
Mhu, she does not lift a leg on my speakers; that is a male characteristic. And I am perplexed by what territory means in this context. She knows I must be prodded into playing something. She will use her nose to bounce against the cabinet door, m...
Will a Wilson Benesche .5 tonearm mount on a Linn?
I have what you do, and I wonder similarly. But I also would like to slap that upgrade bug around and investigate my mat and cartridge and isolation platform. I love this Linn arm and I am captivated by Wilson. Tell'ya what -- you go first.
newby question
I am using it now, and I had to max it at 2.2 also. So's long as you have clean records, and some Last preservative for records you did not buy new, you will do no harm. Also keep the tip clean. I am impressed you noticed 1/10 gr. difference. Of c...
