Band with highest success/talent ratio?
Van Halen
Have you become too jaded with this hobby???
I have a vintage system in the basement that I like the sound of very much. Not near as good as my main system, but I thoroughly enjoy it. I also find myself getting into some great tunes while listening to my stock GM radio in my car, and, again,...
Best vintage Marantz receivers?
I used to own many of the 2230, 2245, 2275, and the 2330. I wish I still had the 2330. Hard to find, expensive, but worth it. I'd start with a 2270, then go up from there. My basement system has a 2252 powering it.
Why Doesn't Contemporary Jazz Get Any Respect?
jazz (jaz) noun 1.)foolishness; nonsense. 2.) wildly exciting or energetic. Would that make smooth jazz: 1.)kinda foolish 2.)mildly exciting or lethargic? Doesn't matter to me. I still like it. I don't think rap gets much respect, either. But I re...
Need some Jazz recommendations..some pop and swing
Swing revival... Just went to see "Big Bad Voodoo Daddy" Monday night in Ann Arbor. Lots of fun. Check out "Cherry Poppin' Daddies" too. Zoot Suit Riot! ... throw back a bottle of beer....
Are you an Allison Krause and Union Station fan
You bet! My wife turned me on to them. My favorite song: "The boy who wouldn't hoe corn" off the "New Favorite" release. Brings tears to my eyes nearly every time I listen to it. Haven't figured out why.
Robin Trower
My original copy of "Bridge of Sighs' sounds very compressed. Anybody else have the same problem?
Has your HiFi changed your musical tastes
Like Mapman, I listen to anything now, as long as the recording is in excellent condition, just to here how it sounds.
You know you're an audiophile if--
Hello, my name is Wade and I'm an audiophile.... if I stop listening to my music and get rid of my system will I still be an audiophile? Once an audiophile, always an audiophile?
Is it wrong?
Years ago I went to a hi-end audio store to have my mid-fi amp repaired. While waiting for them to bring it up front, I explored in the top of the line room. I had never heard of most of the brand names, nor seen speaker cables that thick. A sales...
I Was at a Funeral of An Audiophile...
Douglas expressed an opinion that others would probably have thought likewise, maybe fleetingly. We all form them, even at funerals. Part of his post tells of his relating on good terms with the family about being like the deceased in his love for...
A tale of WAF
My wife never liked the size of my Wilson Audio's but didn't complain much. When I got the urge to try something new, she jumped at the chance to express her desire for something smaller. After a lot of thought, I got some stand mounted monitors t...
I Was at a Funeral of An Audiophile...
Wish I liked my system as much as this fellow liked his. Goes to show that you don't need to spend a lot to get a ton of enjoyment. Happiness is in the ears of the beholder.
