Any "tiny" DVD players ??? I've seen the Teac gear up close and personal although I don't own any. The equipment appears to be very well built and the sound was very decent (I was looking more at the Teac audio stuff). As for using a computer, personally I wouldn't want to w...
Digital Smear??? Subdoofus, I couldn't agree with you more. I am an engineer and I never wear a suit or even "business casual" (ok maybe a couple times a year) but never on a weekend shopping for audio gear. There are two high-end stores in my area, one I refuse t...
1st Question-have CDP 's really improved in recent years? There have been significant improvements in digital technology in just the past 5 years w/o even including DVD Audio or SACD. I agree with Jcbtubes post above. If you can afford $1500 to $2000, you'll find many choices that offer significant benef...
Sony's newXA 777es multichannel SACD players are here So that means you'll need a multichannel preamp and more speakers surroundig the listening room? Not sure I'm ready for that much hardware.
Sony SCD 777 vs. Wadia 830? I've read of more than a couple instances of people trading in their Sony SACD players in favor of Cary 303 / 306 for standard redbook playback. The comments have often been that the Sony sounded thin or lifeless in comparison - Again, I'm talking...
conrad johnson or vac? I somewhat agree with the two comments above regarding CJ Premier 11a. I'm driving a pair of Thiel CS 1.5's and they do sound very good in my smallish listening room. These smaller Thiels do not require a lot of power and current and they present ...
conrad johnson or vac? Proper speaker matching with the CJ Premier 11a is essential. I agree with "Jab" about the CJ sounding like it "had a sheet over the speakers" but I don't think this is the fault of the CJ. I noticed the same thing when I auditioned the CJ Premier...
Tube amp for Thiel CS1.5s A supporting online review by SoundStage of the Thiel CS 1.5's being driven by a modest 40watt/channel tube integrated amp."That said, I found that the all-tube 40Wpc Jolida SJ202A integrated amp drove the [CS 1.5] Thiels to satisfactory levels wi...
One box cdp's vs. seperates Its really a matter of personal preference these days as there are several one box CD players that hold their own easily against separates. In many cases one box players have an advantage with no need for digital interconnect, lower jitter, and le...
24/96 upsampling vs. 24/192 upsampling vs. no upsampling? Tok20000, there is plenty of negative discussion on the Perpetual gear on http://AudioAsylum.com. Seems that Perpetual is having software problems with some customers returning their gear several times for updates with varying degrees of success.
Classe' amps I'm not familiar with the DR-8 or the 70 but I have owned the DR-10, CA-100, and CA-200. I found that the CA-100 had a little better detail on the lower bass vs the DR-10. The CA-200 was even better all around with more punch and transparency.
Tube amp for Thiel CS1.5s I had concerns about driving my Thiel CS 1.5's with a tube amp but I find that my Conrad-Johnson Premier 11a does an outstanding job on these modest Thiels. They aren't the difficult load that some people make them out to be. I also find that the ...
Classe' amps I like your automotive analogy but I place Classe apart from the others for its sound which to me is a bit more musical and sweet compared to the Krell and Levinson. And like a Lexus (Toyota product), Classe has been extremely reliable for me.How ...
Now that there is a CJ ART II Hi Ken. I had the PV-12 and PV-14 (not Premier 14) and although they were very good preamps, combined with my Premier 11a tube amp, I found the frequency extremes to be a little rolled off. I am currently using either my Adcom GFP-750 ss preamp or...
Best Passive Pre-amp with remote?? You can find these used in excellent condition for approx $700 or so. I have one (and I'm keeping it!) but passive mode is not suitable for my setup... sounds better in active mode for me but others have reported outstanding passive mode performan... |
