Does anyone own the Bel Canto SET 40? ponderguy, wondering if you could elaborate on improvements with your various cap replacements. I am running an SETI40 as well. And for those interested the Psavane Acme 845s were a pretty substantial improvement for me over the 845b.
GR Research Power Cables pinwaI'll be very interested in hearing the results. If your system is resolving enough, there is no doubt you will here a difference. The question, of course, is whether it will sound better. Please do report back on your results.
Music Servers, Do They Matter? mapmanI generally really appreciate your posts (for years actually) and honestly never make it a habit to disagree with folks on the forums. But you just could not be more wrong here.Having built custom PC based servers for my system over the last...
Looking for a cd player that plays nice with classical orchestra. I just went through a similar process and have similar priorities. Most of what I tried were transports into my Lampizator Atlantic. I tried: Audiolab CDT 6000 - Good for the money for sure. Not in the same league as the others.Jay’s Audio CDT2 MK...
GR Research Power Cables pinwa I definitely think that's a possibility. jafant Their website is still up. Don't seem to be releasing new products though.
GR Research Power Cables jafantThe primary cable I was referring to was the Triode Wire Labs Digital American--itself a very good cable. I am also replacing a Black Sand Audio Violet Z1 MKII and an older Synergistic Research cable. I would rank them as follows:1. GR Resea...
GR Research Power Cables maxima95It has cleaned up entirely, just as I hoped. Soundstage is more 3 dimensional than with previous cables with more air around voices and instruments (which was audible from the beginning, just somewhat confused). I remain very pleased with ...
Ended my Qobuz subscription I really want to be able to stick with Qobuz. It does sound better on CD quality files than Tidal. And I love the Hi-Res. But there are just too many gaps in the catalog. For now I have cancelled it again (for the 3rd time...) and am sticking with...
DACs with High Voltage Output Also, in response to david_ten: there is certainly a speaker component, as they are somewhat inefficient bookshelves (87 db - Rosso Fiorentino Fiesole). But I am in a small space and have heard them in other contexts with equivalent power (Materso...
DACs with High Voltage Output I did talk with Burson. They say that the attenuation does indeed step the voltage output all the way from 0.5 to 10 vrms. That means the Bel Canto really needs at least 4 vrms to be happy.
DACs with High Voltage Output Al, this is great insight that I am not (yet) technically literate enough to have discerned on my own. I really appreciate your willingness to dig into this. I will contact Burson at the beginning of the week and see if I cannot get a fuller, or p...
DACs with High Voltage Output Its the Burson HA160D. There is unfortunately not a manual online (that I could locate). I got the above cited info about the voltage as it relates to the attenutor from a review at 6moons: http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/burson5/1.html
DACs with High Voltage Output Sorry guys. Been busy and stepped away from the thread for a bit. Thanks for all of the various feedback. All helpful in different ways.I do have a question that stems from a couple of the comments if anyone is still following. I have read the man...
Converting FLAC to WAV and keeping tags? Lupin-I understand that FlAC and WAV contain the same data. I do believe the difference is thought to come from imperfect decompression of FLAC on the fly by the CPU. As a psychologist by trade, I have no doubt the difference I'm "hearing" could b...
