Power cord upgrade on your Jolida JD-100?
I have tried several tubes but like the GE 5751 black plates best - at least with my current gear. Tried Signal, Kimber, MIT, and some DIY power cords but prefered my MIT Z-cord the most (it usually ends up that way). enjoy! Arthur
Cats and audiophiles
My 2 males will lounge with me most of the time but shy away from loudness and heavy metal. Some rock music seems to be ok - depends on the time of day. Only one of them has laid on the McIntosh but after scolding him, he never did it again (they ...
Looking for a integated amp.
Myryad Z-140 if you can find one. You won't believe its quality sound.
totem arro or rainmaker or von schweikert vr1
My dealer has the VR-1, Arro, and Rainmakers. The Arro are the most impressive of the three IMO (with Kora electronics and Thule CDP). The C320Bee has gotten universally great reviews although I am not familiar with it. Also, I just got a Myryad Z...
Traps vs Equalizer
I would use an equalizer to fix bad recordings - their low frequency room correction is simply an added bonus.
Jolida J100, Shanling CDT100, or 640C with DAC?
Clio - I haven't had an Audio Mirror in my system so I can't say. What tubes did you have in your Jolida?
Jolida J100, Shanling CDT100, or 640C with DAC?
Having compared the 640c several times to my Jolida, I would get the Jolida hands down! Put some nice tubes in the Jolida and it will kill the 640c. no contest.
Looking for non-boomy full range speakers
Maybe you are right. But it seems to me that you would be best off with European speakers like JM Lab, Cabasse, Sonus Faber, etc. since they are designed with smaller rooms in mind. I wouldn't say the 926 is generous in the lower mids. It is prett...
CJ Premier 11A - rolling small tubes
I have heard some say that their experience suggests rolling the small tubes can yield more significant improvements than rolling the large tubes. Give it a try and see!
McIntosh - is it that great?
I know a guy who went from a Classe SSP (don't know the model but it was the biggest) and just got a McIntosh MX135 to replace it. He is thrilled with the change stating the Mc is clearer and livelier with more detail. I would say the MX132 is sim...
Looking for non-boomy full range speakers
I am in the same boat and got JM Lab Electra 926s. Couldn't be happier!
Has Anyone Compared:
In case you didn't check the archives, there is a comment from a poster about the G3 and Passion in this old thread:http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?aamps&1115659650&read&keyw&zzybaYou could contact him and get his opinion. ...
Advise on Tube integrated with good bass
The Jolida 302b with "big boy" EL34 tubes has bass like I could not believe. It was really impressive and is cheap to boot. Arthur
McIntosh MC300 vs McIntosh MC7300 any differences?
If you want an amp with crazy amounts of power, check out the MC7200 instead. It, unlike the other two, doesn't have autoformers and so its power output essentially doubles with a halving of impedance. I love mine.McIntosh feels that Class AB push...
Feedback on McIntosh Mc-402 amplifier
I also agree that the MC402 manages to pull off tube sound with accuracy and resolution of SS. I personally find it incredible but I can't afford it yet. Indeed, McIntosh dealers are generally good at lending equipment out so give one a try! Arthur
