Streaming Tidal/Qbuzz Vs Internet Radio
@buellrider97 Wow, 917-10 is a deep cut! Very cool and interesting machine.  Cars are just another fun hobby, they can be expensive but worth it imho. Just like audio. Then again you can have a blast wrenching on an old car without spending a for...
Streaming Tidal/Qbuzz Vs Internet Radio
The best resource I've ever seen about higher quality internet radio: https://www.hiresaudio.online/cd-quality-internet-radio/ Some of the 192k streams can be surprisingly good, and 320k streams can be excellent. It helps when they are streaming...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@lak Thank you. I am strongly considering trying those out in a different system just for an alternate take.  Meanwhile my Aperta SE is still opening up. I have about 150 hours on them and things are sounding wonderful.
Chesky Audio LC1 bookshelf speakers - a sonic bargain!
Had not heard of these. They look interesting and the price is right, will keep an eye out for user impressions.
Anyone have experience with the new ATC active bookshelf speakers?
@mashif Same experience for me. I auditioned the SCM20P (the P is for Passive) with a Benchmark AHB2 and then switched to a Rogue Audio Dragon hybrid. In both cases it was extremely balanced and clean. The SCM20 really shows the character of the a...
Replacement For Wandla/Hypsos Combo
I don't know what all you need for connectivity so can't account for that. For sound I would seriously look at Bricasti Design. Their M3 is within your budget. It should be in the same musical ballpark as your current Ferrum combo, just better ove...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@lak Thank you that is helpful info. I'm glad I went with the Aperta SE but I am also tempted to pick up one of their demo sets of the original Aperta for another little system I'm setting up. Looks like they allow a 30 day trial even on the dem...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
@lak Thank you I was curious about how much difference there is between the two models. Could you imagine a scenario where the original Aperta might still be a better choice? Like how sometimes a duller or less resolving cable can help tame an ove...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
I have about 50 hours on the Aperta SE so far, it is opening up nicely. They already sound far better than the JPS Labs they are replacing.
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
The Aperta SE speaker cables arrived a few days ago. I installed them in place of some JPS Labs Superconductors that I've had for years. Immediate improvement in sound. Also the build is easily much nicer than the JPS. I am burning them in now. E...
Headphone cable upgrade
LavriCables, Norne, and Forza are my favorites for fancy cables. But those will cost you. If you just need a solid cable that won't cost a fortune and still sounds/feels better than those annoying stock cables, I like the Apos Flow  https://apos...
Im going to regret my cable question
I would argue that we've had all these same discussions before when it comes to most audio gear. Unless it is a newly released model or brand (Laiv or Eversolo for example) there isn't much new under the sun. Doesn't mean it isn't nice to hear opi...
Im going to regret my cable question
The Rockets are fine. I upgraded from the 33 to the 44 in one of my systems at some point, not a huge difference but I did hear a little improvement. Later swapped around some Morrow SP-5, Straightwire Symphony, Kimber 8TC, which all felt roughly ...
Veritas Cables a new brand that I found
I just did an order for the Aperta SE speaker cables. They will go in my 2nd system to see how they compare with my JPS Superconductors. I will update once they arrive and I get some listening time on them.
Icon Audio, any opinions?
Thank you for the feedback everyone. I think that settles it, I'm going to give them a try and see how it goes. Looking at the Stereo 300 mkII which is a 300B design with 30 watts per channel. Looks like they offer factory capacitor upgrades, I al...
