Proper Use of Record Research Lab Cleaners
Ha! Doug is correct. I am not even the only one in my house that uses the RR fluids. My son, a recent convert to vinyl, is now stealing mine to clean some of his new acquisitions!I will place a qualifier with respect to the LAST brushes. Some will...
Moderately priced interconnect for McCormack amp
I use the Ridge Street MSE's with my McCormack DNA-225 and don't plan to audition others any time soon. If you can find them in your price range, they'd be my suggestion. I previously used the Truthlinks and think they work VERY well with the McCo...
Proper Use of Record Research Lab Cleaners
I, too, use the paint pad brushes that Brian mentions in conjunction with the Groovmaster (see E-bay) for washing filthy garage sale LP's in the sink prior to VPI cleansing. They work really well and are almost exactly as wide as the grooved area....
Proper Use of Record Research Lab Cleaners
As many know, I use only RR fluids after having tried umpteen commercial and home-brew fluids. I have no interest or connection with RR except that of a satisfied user. I speak from my expereince, hoiping that others will have equal success. If yo...
Any recommendation for a modern FM tuner
Ryan, some of the information you provide in your always pointed and lengthy, albeit often contradictory (including tuner recommendations), posts is useful. You clearly envision yourself as the very authority on all things FM, what with your prope...
Best Grateful Dead recording?
Just don't forget to look at the image of "Mars Hotel" in the mirror while held upside down.
Any recommendation for a modern FM tuner
Before going out and spending $1K, or more, I'd suggest finding even a modest tuner from the 70's, some to be found for as little as $80-$100. Contact Don Scott (e-mail if you want his e-mail) for suggestions. Then, have Don do a few mods. I'm gue...
"The Yes Album" Remasters
Xiekitchen is correct from my 30+ years listening to Yes. Try to acquire the Yes Album and Fragile UK first pressings on the red/plum Atlantic label. Sit back and really appreciate Chris Squire on these gems. They make the US pressings and any of ...
can't remember his name
Wow, a Les Dudek sighting. I, too, will have to dust off a few of my copies. The first self-titled LP had a host of fine musicians, as I remember. Porcaro and even Boz scaggs and Tom Scott. (?) Thanks for the throw back reference, Tubino. One prob...
Cleaning LP...how much fluid is enough/too much?
I follow what Sayas does with respect to fluid in front of the brush. I do not use the VPI brush at all. I used Disk Doc brushes for awhile but find the little LAST brush work better for me and are less expensive.I do a squirt of Deep Cleaner alon...
What is your price range for used vinyl?
The thrill of finding that $1 nugget is tremendous, happens with some frequency at garage sales, but is not something I like to see trumpted on the boards. Seems a bit tacky to me and it appears to occur here with increasing frequency of late. Som...
mccormack dna 225 with dynaudio 1.3se
I think that Paul summarized things quite nicely with respect to the DNA-225, which I also own. Any speakers that sound better when driven at a higher power level will appreciate the DNA-225. For instance, I originally owned a pair of PSB Stratus ...
Stevie Wonder MFSL Innervisions
Try the vinyl on Tamla.
Suspended Basis vs Nonsuspended Teres
I have heard the Vector now on several tables. It sounds uniformly excellent. I would give to it a slightly higher mark on the Basis tables but not by much. Sounds spectacular on the 'Not line, too, but some adjustments beyond a different collet r...
Steely Dan's Aja
Gaucho was digitally mastered. The best Lp pressing of it I have found is the half-speed master MCA "Audiophile Seres". More dynamic than the original pressing and not brittle like the Japanese version. As far as high-rez, I will respectfully pass.
