Adding damping fluid to Audioquest PT arms ????
Wayne, have you tried the PT6 absent of the fluid? I ask because I own a Loth-X modified PT6 which is one of the best bargains and one of the most flexible arms (in terms of cartridges) I've owned. As part of the Loth-X upgardes, they do away with...
Attention Vandersteen 5A owners/ amp matches
I have them with a McCormack DNA-225 upgraded to Steve McCormack's Platinum specs. (see review). It is one of the finest combos I've heard at any price. One of these days I plan to do them in dual monos.
How To Store Record Collection?
Dan: I'd sooner he snapped his ankle like a dry twig. Never liked him, never will, regardless of uniform. With respect to pictures, I've not taken any. I am reluctant to take any, at least in the near future, as these have worked out so well that I...
How To Store Record Collection?
If you have the space, front-facing storage (like in record shops) is the only way to go. You can build them with two layers for the comfort of someone of common height (instead of the 4-5 shelves common to spine-facing) with some storage below. T...
Vandersteen 3a Sigs, McCormack DNA 125, preamp?
If you go tubes, I'd suggest a Herron VTSP 1A/166 because you ARE going to need the finely incremented volume control with the McCormack amp and, from epxerience, I know these two components match quite well with Vandersteens. First Sound is anoth...
jewelers loop
I use an old scope I "borrowed" from the Boatny lab when I was in college and I forget to take it back...Jimrick makes a VERY good point regarding the need to have either experience to draw on or pictures to look at regarding a worn and unworn sty...
Record-playing Rituals?
Either place is fine, but if you want to establish a working relationship with a really good guy, shop Galen Carol. This is not to say that the folks at MD aren't good guys, just that Galen is one of the best.
Anyone using the Clear Audio Virtuoso Wood?

How to convert lps to CD?
Clio09, can you discuss a little further your expereince with the Masterlink - ESPECIALLY if you can comment on the difference pre and post TRL mods, which I am considering myself. Thanks
Anyone using the Clear Audio Virtuoso Wood?
I am not a fan of the CA MC cartridges, at all. However, and in polar opposition to Mr. Jones, I found the Virtuoso Wood to be a very fine MM cartridge. Involving, with plenty of smack, yet nicely detailed. Perhaps just cat's whisker rolled off on...
Strange Tonearm Tweak. Long
Spell it "oscilloscope" and see if you get the same result! Ha! :-)
MC transformers - what do they sound like?
I want to be one to test and report on the Raul phono stage.
Best phono pre amp for Lyra Helikon
If you are still in the "almost procured" stage and haven't purchased anything yet, I'd maybe consider teh phoinostage first. Then, consider the table/arm. Then, the cartridge. Just a friendly suggestion.
And now for something completely different....
I bought one very similar off E-Bay and presented it to a local analog shop owner. He used it as a gag display piece for some time. After awhile, he understandably tired of the "I hear the Lexus model provides an expanded sound stage", and such as...
The Clever Little Sharp
Ooops, sorry, the OP does not link to the "premium" clock. My mistake. Gotta put a sticker on myself for enhanced performance.
