Accurate human voice reproduction
IME, Auditorium-23 Solovox (which I am fortunate to own) and the Shindo Latours (which sadly I will never own). Both are excellent for both singing and speech.
Klyne 6PE: comments ?
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I was still bemoaning having to trade in my Shindo Aurieges-L as part of a major set of upgrades to my reference system when I happened upon a museum-quality 6LE/P for sale. And yes, I did pou...
"Last" system puzzle piece - Tube amp option
Phaelon - Thank you for sharing in more detail your past listening experience with the VPAs. I guess if I do end up with the VPAs, my choice of the Amadis would apparently prove to be serendipitous. But I do still intend to give Shindo amps a list...
"Last" system puzzle piece - Tube amp option
Larryi - Thank you. The comments by you and others reinforce my decision to audition two of the Shindo monoblock offerings. I have heard of Wyetech and Atmasphere but am not familiar with their products. I appreciate knowing about those amps, but ...
"Last" system puzzle piece - Tube amp option
Sibelius - Thank you for the suggestion. I guess it would not hurt to arrange an audition, but it is hard to imagine that 20 watts a side is going to drive the Amadis properly when listening to something like large-scale classical music. And it is...
"Last" system puzzle piece - Tube amp option
Onemug - Thanks for your response. I have actually heard the Nagra VPAs with at least two and possibly three speakers - Vandersteen, Verity (but not the Amadis), and possibly DeVore. None of these listening sessions were in my system. I agree that...
Best redbook cd-only player ?
John - The Audio Research Ref CD8 is very, very good for its price point. And now that the CD9 is out, used/demo CD8's should be available at a significant savings. And even though your budget is generous, you might want to give the new tubed Line...
How good is a Mayware formula 4 tonearm ?
Viridian and Redglobe - Thanks for your helpful comments. If I decide to keep the table, I now have more confidence that I would be pleased with the musical results. And if I decide to sell it, I now have a better idea for a reasonable selling pri...
How good is a Mayware formula 4 tonearm ?
I too am interested in the answer to this question, as I have a Luxman PD444 table fitted with two Mayware Formula 4 tonearms, and I am torn between setting it up for serious listening or just selling it. Knowing more about the quality of the Mayw...
Is the Townshend Rock 7 "the" giant killer?
I heard the Rock with a NOS SME IV.
Is the Townshend Rock 7 "the" giant killer?
Notec - I have heard the WTL Amadeus and Versalex, and recently have heard the Townshend Rock 7. All are very impressive. I have not heard them in A/B mode and wondered if you have had such an opportunity? And even if not via A/B mode, what was it...
You are there-they are here
My preferences are the same as those of Dracule1. Unfortunately, the room for my reference system somewhat compromises achieving the "you are there" presentation for large scale music. In my experience - "they are here" is easier to achieve.
Integrated Tube Amp Under $3k Used
Leben and Line Magnetic should be on your list of integrated contenders in view of your plan to upgrade to DeVore speakers. If you can afford separates, then an even better choice would be Shindo.
Shindo & GamuT - Comments?
Bnrlaw - Thank you. Again! So, the cover would have to come off. At least the gain is adjustable.I generally use Auditorium-23 ICs and will likely do so in this case.I will either use the Wireworld Silver Eclipse 6 cable that I own, or the best mod...
Shindo & GamuT - Comments?
Bnrlaw - Thank you for your comments. I have a Masseto as well in another system, paired with Wavelength Cardinal X2 monoblocks. As for wasting the Shindo on the GamuT, I do not entirely agree, but that is due to my preferences and my system needs...
