Audio Research PH7 versus Manley Steelhead ?
I don't know of any problems with the PH 7. I sure love mine. Just a few months ago, Audio Research came out with a new reference level phono stage. It is spectacular. The cost is dear - $12K. Maybe some of these folks selling their PH 7's are upg...
full range speaker suggestions
DeVore Fidelity Gibbon 9's are tough to beat at their price point. Very dynamic and musical, and by no means bright or analytical.
Levinson vs. McIntosh vs. Lexicon or ?
Nagra PSA. Simply the best SS amp I have heard at anything close to its price point. I am auditioning one now at home and don't think I will be able to pass it up!I am quite familiar with Krell, Levinson, and McIntosh stereo amps. I listed them as...
ARC REF 3, Nagra PSA, & Phase Inversion
Microstrip:For the evaluation I was doing, I was using the balanced output. I am going to talk to my friend who suggested the inversion and get his explanation, then share it in a subsequent response for this thread.
How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Thanks to all that responded. I have decided to go with the HRS Isolation Base, which I should have in place by early next week. Even more than the height increase (3 inches), I am obviously looking forward to the sonic improvements!

How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Kgallagh,Thanks for the suggestion. Right now my two leading choices are HRS and Box.But the jury is still out . . . .
Dahlquist speakers
I have not heard the DQ-12's, only the DQ-20i's and the mirror-imaged DQ-10's, both of which I owned. And I wish I still had them! I have not heard any speaker at $1000 per pair (new) or even $1500 per pair (new) that I would prefer. I of course h...
wyred4sound amps
Lak:I too am interested in class D amps, including the Wyred 4 Sound line. Would you mind sharing your opinion with a musical ranking of the class D amps that you have heard? Wyred 4 Sound has been highly recommended to me by others, so I am curio...
Help with final choice of efficient speakers
David12,I agree with Jazdoc's impression of the DeVore 9's as being slightly on the polite side of perfect neutrality. And they image very well as do all of the DeVore speakers. But what sets apart the Gibbon 3XL's from ALL other DeVore speakers i...
Help with final choice of efficient speakers
As much as I love the Devore Gibbon 9's, and since you liked those, I suggest you audition the new Devore Gibbon 3XL's with a good sub-based system (e.g., REL B2). I believe you will find that the 3XL/B2 combination will significantly outperform t...
How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Ebm:Thanks for letting me know about Symposium! Just started researching their web site. So far I like what I see and read! Do you have one or more of these shelves, or have you heard them on someone else's system? I am interested in them for both...
How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Johnnyb53:I have listened to the Ayre/DPS with the two top of the line Dynavector and EMT cartridges. I chose the 2nd best EMT cartridge pretty much for the same reason I went with the modified RB250 - more than good enough (incredible, actually) ...
How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Johnnyb53:Thanks for your comment. And I agree. IMHO, I found the Ayre/DPS overall to be pretty even with the top of the line SME and the top of the line Spiral Groove. The auditioning I did of the Ayre/DPS was with the standard tonearm that the Ay...
How to Increase Turntable Height on High WAF Rack
Srwooten:Bottom shelf is not an option for me. Because of other gear, too tight L-C-R, and because I will need a Gingko Claravu acrylic cover, not enough vertical clearance to lift and remove the cover. At this point I am leaning toward a wood-base...
