driving Verity Audio Parsifal Ovations?
Mark:I have watching this thread and other of your related threads with growing interest. You apparently like Luxman as do I. Are you open to the idea of seperates? If so, the Luxman MQ-88 tube amp and its preamp counterpart are close to your ~ $1...

Pubul57 et al:I did compare the Naim, just with its own excellent internal DAC and without one of the optional external power supplies, to a MAC tied into Wavelength DACs costing up to $17500. The Naim was better every time.

BTW, the Naim is easily software upgradeable, along the lines of Anthem's excellent HT preamp-processors, thereby negating the "yesterday's news" pitfall. True, it won't clean your house, wash your car, or cook your dinner (I believe those deficie...

I am not familiar with the Olive system, but from what I have read about it, I agree that the HDX and Olive seem to be similar conceptually. The Naim is extremely user friendly (plug and play might be a stretch, but it is far easier to use than a ...

The Naim HDX sells for $8250, which includes an excellent internal DAC. Options that I am aware of are two external power supplies - one quite expensive and one ridiculously expensive, but they do improve the unit's musicality even more. You also ...

Pubul57:The Naim HDX employs two 400 GB hard drives in its most basic configuration. Music is stored on the 1st hard drive and automatically backed up to the 2nd hard drive once every 24 hours at whatever time of day or night you select. You can u...

Rakuennow et al:I am not nearly knowledgeable enough to answer your questions. But I can tell you this. Sonically and musically for the auditioning I have done, the Naim HDX is far better than the ARC CD8, the DCS Puccini or Scarlatti (Can't remem...

Recommend you audition the Naim HDX. It is hands down the closest thing to a good quality vinyl front end I have ever heard.
Verity Audio midrange drivers?
Mark:You have gone through a very thoughtful process and received a lot of good advice. As a current owner of Verity and DeVore Fidelity speakers, I would offer some further comments for your consideration.WRT Verity, I was disappointed in the Leo...
ARC REF 3, Nagra PSA, & Phase Inversion
Ryder:The only other preamp I have used with the Nagra PSA was the Shindo Aurieges in my secondary system. I wanted to hear how the PSA would sound versus the Accuphase P-3000 that I use in that system. Both were excellent pairings with the Aurieg...
Help building new system: devore, verity or Sonus?
I have owned and/or still own speakers from all three makers in which you have expressed interest. I have used Verity Fidelio Encores, Sonus Faber Auditor M's, and Verity Tamino's in my secondary system. That room is 13' x 19' and the speakers wer...
SS phono stage in $2k to $3k range...
Agree completely with Hevac1. I use a Nagra VPS in my secondary system, and consider the Nagra BPS to be nearly as good and thus a heck of a bargain at its price point.
Speaker Cable for DeVore Fidelity Ref Silverbacks
The Basis speaker cable is sold by the same "Basis" company that makes high end turntables. Heinously expensive at $5K for a pair of 10-ft runs. I have found their extension of the upper and middle/lower frequencies to be highly revealing (e.g., m...
Speaker Cable for DeVore Fidelity Ref Silverbacks
Thanks for the responses so far! I agree that the Auditorium 23 cable is very good with the Silverbacks, but I found the Basis cable to be considerably better. It did everything the Aud 23 did, revealed more detail throughout the middle and upper ...
