What speaker has the best high frequencies?
There is no one speaker that has the best high frequencies.
Used preamp under $400...
I see others have beat me to the punch, but I'll say it anyway.  Schiit Audio Saga +.  You can also get a b stock version for a little less.  I've had the old gen Saga, which was my first passive.  It was so good I thought I'd try out the Freya +....
sam here is it possible to get a nice analog warm headphone foo $100 dollers
Pratorious must have been unaware that the Grados are specifically not warm.  Perhaps the RS2E is closer to warm, being almost neutral.  I've the the RS125e, they are pretty close to the SR80e, and they are bright, forward and pretty detailed, cer...
Chinese fake cables How fake, how good?
China has been infiltrating just about every single industry and manufacturing sector out there, including audio.  Rather than get their brilliant people to R&D products that they refine over the course of decades, they steal technologies, des...
Best Amp With Some Warmth and Midrange Magic To Pair With The RAAL Requsite SR1a's?
Glad you have a happy ending!  I admit I only dabble in headphone use, so it's nice that fellas such as yourself share your experiences.
Marantz pm6006 upgrade?
Schiit recently released the Modius dac for $200.  I've had a few of their dacs and they really make great sounding gear.  I've had the Modi 3, Modi Uber, Bifrost Multibit among others.  I'm waiting for my Modius to arrive.

Okay Thomas, any update on your Jotunheim-R?  Did Schiit Audio communicate with you what you might have done wrong?
Should people who can't solder, build or test their speakers be considered audiophiles?
Threads like this <sigh>.  The worst thing about the internet is it gives a tool to the trollers.  A perfectly decent forum gets cluttered up with yet another idiotic thread.
DAC suggestion for Win PC and Headphone/amp
Oops, this is a 7 year old thread.  I’m sure the OP and rrae made a decision long ago.
Best DAC for around $2,500 or less
So in a direct comparison with a dac costing twice the Bifrost’s price, it held its own.   That’s a pretty good recommendation of the Bifrost.   If You’ve got a $2500 budget, as the thread title suggests, the Yggdrasil from Schiit is worth a listen.
Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking?
I notice that many of the components listed are of the higher budget category, so here's something a little bit different.  I've tried what might be more in the "mid-fi" end of things.  Emotiva, Adcom, Parasound, Nad, and older components by Harma...
Impressions: $1k-$2k integrated amps
I may have missed it but the OP didn't seem to offer up what speakers he'd be pairing an amp with.  There's no point in suggesting an amp without knowing if it might clash with the existing speakers it'd be driving. For instance, the NAD C375BEE I ...
NAD C372 UPGRADE/UPDATE
I'm not sure what you mean by wanting to bring it up to date.  I had the 372, and later on the 375, and there were no upgrades.  The 375 did offer expansion modules for phono and dac, or is that what you mean? The dac was nothing special, you'd be ...
Are current audio cable designs superior to 1980s designs?
I'm just kind of impressed that some audio manufacturer was putting XLR jacks on the back of their amps in 1987.  Preamp AND amplifier, who was this manufacturer?  I really hope it wasn't a pro amp like Crown or Belringer.
Spendor A1 vs Tannoy Autograph Mini's
I had the previous generation of the Tannoys, or was it a lower end version?  Tannoy’s lines were somewhat muddled to me a few years back.  Anyway, it was the Revolution 4.  A great little speaker with a lot going for it.   Beautiful midrange and ...
