Mounting of a tonearm.
I am not familiar with the Micro Seiki TA-1 arm but if it has a slotted headshell then the arm location is not critical. The distance that matters is from the stylus to the pivot point and this can be adjusted by moving the cartridge in the headsh... 
Align cartridge to offset cantilever ?
The alignment should always be based on the stylus/cantilever. Using the body is just an easier way for me. Just because the cantilever and the body are not in alignment does not mean something is wrong. I have seen new carts that are not perfect.... 
Klipsch Forte new crossover help
I have a pair of Forte's that I bought new in 87 and a few months ago bought new caps from Bob for my crossover so I am not familiar with his crossover board. He may have already told you how to check to see if the diaphragms in the horns are bad.... 
Leveling your turntable, your approach?
I used to use a level and go side to side, front to back, and corner to corner. Now I use a circular bubble level. It is easier and I believe it has better accuracy because it shows 360 degrees.

If you were playing the same record both days the first thing that you should have done was to get your best magnifing glass out and just make sure that the stylus is sill intact. 
Your First Concert was.....
Joe Walsh and the James Gang back in 1970 in a small hall in Wheeling WV. It was hard to beleive that 3 guys could make so much music. This was way before synthesizers. 
What mat for aluminum
I have an Acoustic Signature Samba TT w/a modified Rega 300 and a Denon DL-304 cartridge. I replaced the stock felt mat with an Oracle groove isolator and it was a huge improvement. 
Static on Vinyl
I was having the same problem with my Oracle and ended up running a ground to the outlet from my preamp. That seems to have cured the problem.
