High compliance and low mass or?
Janvoom,Perhaps you're right. I should have written more specifically, "Does it make a difference at all since both cartridges PRODUCE a resonant freq of about 10Hz?"Is that better?Perhaps if you were to do a little research, you would find very e...
High compliance and low mass or?
The effecticve mass of the SME 309 is 9.5 grams. I would guess that is considered medium-light.
Is the Dynavector XX-2 really an upgrade for me?
C123666,Thanks for your reply. My 309 is a magnesium bodied tonearm. So, that being the case, it has more in common with the Seies IV and V that it does not, correct? So, taken one step further, the XX-2 will have much of the same operating qualit...
Analysis Audio at High End Show
Calanctus,I really wasn't in a spot to be able to accurately judge the quality of the sound but from where I was sitting, they didn't strike as very dynamic -- and I generally like planars and ESLs.
Analysis Audio at High End Show
I didn't spend much time there simply because I called them approx 2 weeks ago asking for pricing. The pricing I received at that time I thought was high. To my amazement, the pricing at the HE show was even higher, on average $3K per pair!
Maggie 3.6 owners -- please help
Thanks for the replies.Slipknot & Rooze -- I will using my Innersound ESL300 which from what I've read is a good amp for the 3.6s. While I'm sure there are better (Wolcotts for example) it will be a good start for me. My room is 14x20 and the ...

Elgordo,Where do you place the room lens? In front of the TV? I don't have any problems (that I know of) with soundstaging or imaging. The imaging is stable and the soundstage is sometimes as wide as my room, extending beyond the speakers on some ...

Arthur -- thanks for the reply. I'll check into the JM Labs.Sedona -- that is what I'm afraid of -- not being able to come close to recreating the magic that the Eros produces (in the sweet spot that is). What made you choose the ET VIIIs?Thanks,Mike
Negative feedback, voltage and output impedance
All,Thanks for the replies. If I understand this correctly, if I want to buy a high power (voltage for ESLs) tube amp with low output impedance and low or no negative feedback, then I need to look at OTLs, correct? Thanks.Mike
Negative feedback, voltage and output impedance
Sean,The only amp I recall with user adjustable feedback is the Mesa Baron. I believe it is adjustable between 0 and 8db in 4 increments. This is an amp I am considering purchasing, btw. It is a very flexible (can also switch between all triode and...
A phono preamp for less than $1200??
I have an EAR 834P MM/MC phono pre and like it very much. It is very easy to modify and tube roll with. It has 71dB of gain and will drive almost any MC cartridge out there. I bought a demo for less than $800 and a few months later, changed the tu...
What tubes for a EAR p834
I recently purchased some fabulous NOS RCAs -- early 60s vintage from Andy at Vintage Tube Services. I must say that these tubes had an immediate positive impact on the sound. Less noise, more detail, greater dynamics. Overall, I'm very impressed....
