Belles 21A standby mode? I have the 21A also. The standby mode keeps the tubes' filaments heated, so that the warm up time of the tubes is less than 15 minuted vs. an hour or two from a cold start. However, the rest of the tube is not powered, thereby it's life should not...
Antique Sound Hurricaines Yes, Sphile, Tash from DT has been great to work with, very responsive and helpful. I also agree with Rwd, based on the experiences by both, Sphile and myself, you must get these amps from a local dealer. If you see the same problems, let the deal...

Help choosing receiver Take a serious look at the Panasonic SA-XR45. It's a 6.1 HT receiver that is rated at 100wpc (all digital). Huge amount of posts over at Audioasylum re: this little slim profile receiver. I plan on looking into it by the spring. And best of all, i...

Which preamp? Audible Illusions Rogue Audio ARC Take a look at the new Belles 21A. I just picked up one, and I'm having a blast playing it. Initial thoughts: great dynamics, nice soundstage, no part of the freq range bloated or lean, tight bass, pretty transparent and fianlly, musical. And then...
Jazz drum music recommendations? Funny that this question came up, as I just happen to be listening to Jack DeJohnette, along with Keith Jarrett and Gary Peacock on "Keith Jarrett at the Blue Note". It's a wonderful live recording with excellent drumming by Jack. The cymbals on t...

BAT VK-D5, worthwhile to get external dac? I'd agree with BAT on this one. I love my D5, also with NOS tubes, but I think the transport is it's only weak link. I'm not even thinking of replacing the BAT.
ASL Hurricane's -- paper-in-oil, verdict? Denf, Are you running the stock tubes or have you rolled in some NOS or other tubes?
Any comments on the VSA VR 4 se? Swamp, I would definately say YES....I've been running my VR-4 III HSE for the last 5 mos. in a 12x25 room, along the long wall. Other than a slight "room boom" issue, they sound fantastic!
Does your system reflect your personality? I have both, tubes and solid state. Does that make me a split-personality??? |
