King of the Non oversampling DAC's? Lavry /Kondo ?
"One thing for sure, sampling rate does matter. 192kHz sounds better and more natural than 96kHz."agree, but only if raw files were mastered at higher bit & sampling rates (many hi-rez recordings are mastered at 16/44kHz & simply "upsample...
King of the Non oversampling DAC's? Lavry /Kondo ?
boils down to whether 24/96 format (&/or higher sampling) will become mainstream (i hv my doubts considering it's all abt convenience these days).no doubt some "audiophile labels" will attempt to remaster popular audiophile recordings in 24/96...
King of the Non oversampling DAC's? Lavry /Kondo ?
Rockitman, specs are specs. sometimes they matter, often they don't. BADA's a good DAC, but i wouldn't necessarily rule out the 2 (as well as other highly regarded non oversampling DACs) simply because they don't handle 24/192.& as with Radema...

Stand out phono stages
Larryi: yr description of the Lyra phonostage is spot on.Thuchan: i'll most likely add at least 1 more phonostage, but the Uniswitch you've mentioned does sound very interesting. would you happen to hv a link?
Stand out phono stages
hi Soundlistening, thk you for yr detailed reply. i currently use a Lyra Connoisseur 4-2P SE. fantastic phono stage but only has 1 input, & therefore rather troublesome to switch cables every time i switch tonearms.it's interesting that you men...
Stand out phono stages
hi Soundlistening, was wondering if you could elaborate on yr phono stage shootout?! what cartridge did you use, & in what ways was Kondo M7 Phono superior over the others? did the M7 contain stock tubes?i'm considering getting a 2nd phono stag...
Component racks
hi Roxy54, Rhljazz,if you don't mind me asking, how hv you determined if your rack sounds good or hv positive sonics (over what you'd consider an inferior rack)?
Shelter 901 MkII
thks for the insight Sprog. i am however a bit confused abt the "there's not a great deal in it" remark... were you referring to the cart's value for money?
Shelter 901 MkII
has anyone managed to compare the orig. 901 against 901 mk.II? what are the key differences?do these cartridges generally sound better on "modern" (tight tolerance) or "vintage" arms?
Best Speaker for Ongaku
hi Jzach, congrats on acquiring yr dream amps.you wouldn't necessarily hv to use a pair of higher efficiency speakers if yr room isn't that big (although there are still benefits in doing so). however, i/o making wild speaker suggestions w/out und...
Shindo Latour Speakers
sorry to revive an old thread, but i too am interested to learn more about the Shindo Latour & Petite Latour speakers. more specifically - i'd like to know: (a) ideal room size; & (b) recommended placement; & (c) ideal listening distan...
Kondo KSL M7 Vs. M77
anyone get a chance to compare M7 Phono vs. the M1000's phono section?
Audioquest DBS pack orientation?

Glory, do you mean better wire like ones you use fm the now defunct Virtual Dynamics?! (sorry, i couldn't resist)Charles1dad, unfortunately i've not tried Kondo's copper cables & am unable to offer any insight &/or comparison.
