Seeking Advice to Improve My Audio System ($1000 Budget)
I think you should get what mihorn is recommending. He says its the best in the world. It only costs $4000 new and he provides a link to a used one for only $990. And the best part is he's the seller. Who would have figured the best in the world c...
Need a solid surge protector that’s non-current limiting.
If you call Cable Company they will send you a box full of demo's that you can try in your system. Why guess?
Problem with system
Bryston amps are balanced and can be bridged. Are you sure everything was set correctly on the back of your amp?
Footers under new speakers
Put the spikes on and put a penny under each one. It should work well enough to get by while you're looking into different options. It will also serve as a reference.when you try new feet/spikes.
Looking for a new power amp - choosing between T + A, Atoll, Rogue
There are some good recommendations listed. The only area where I would disagree is going by price. For example, if you have a $5000 budget for an amp, then you're going to buy a $5000 amp. Do all $5000 amps sound the same? Not even close. I would...
Linn Akurate 242 speaker spiked
GAIA III Isolators (Set of 4) It doesn't have to be these. Just a link to this company. They sell just about everything at all price levels.
Thoughts on using the DAC in my oppo 205 with a CD Transport.
They both make a difference. You need to be careful when asking for opinions like this. Most people get their listening experience by reading spec sheets and reviews. Or they just guess because they think they know better. For example, someone tha...
Audiolab 9000P bi amp speaker question
Are you doing a horizontal or vertical biamp? That's important because if you do a horizontal biamp, you probably need a crossover to deal with the difference in volume. A vertical biamp avoids that issue.
Tilting B&W 802D speakers slightly forward or backward
Its a good idea. If I had a pair I would try it and get back to you. You need to find someone that has these speakers and will let you experiment a bit with them.
B&W 802D1 - How can I tame the brightness?
"B&W sells more speakers, high end speakers, than any other company in the world.  And the 802 D diamond is one of their best, many prefer it to more recent iterations of the 802 series." I can tell by your post you've never had a pair of the...
B&W 802D1 - How can I tame the brightness?
I had the same issue. For me, the problem was the binding posts. When I connected my speaker cables to the binding posts on my ProAc's the problem went away.
Musical Fidelity M6SCD vs Technics SL-G700M2
"I have a balanced hi-fi, so require the XLR connects and USB/DAC." You require balanced components, not XLR connectors. The components themselves have to be balanced. If both pieces are balanced, XLR is typically the most common type of connecto...
Do You Unplug Equipment During Thunderstorms?
Unless there is something new on the market that I'm not aware of, no surge suppressor, or any similar device, can protect your gear from lightning. It comes in through the ground and is very different than a power surge. However, most companies ...
Analog output from CD player distorted
I would take another look at what jeffbij mentioned about balanced and single ended connections. That might still be the problem. Balanced and single ended modes of operation are not compatible. If you want to mix them, you typically have to do so...
Need to learn about Audio Research
"I didn't audition this pair specifically, but I've heard them in the past and have always wanted a pair.  A big problem is to visit a "real" dealer is at least 2.5hrs away. It makes it hard to audition or borrow equipment.  This is why I mostly...
