Directional interconnect cables
Well, I'm convinced now.... I'm going to turn my throttle CABLES around. My HOG should run alot better......LOL......
Directional interconnect cables
Rodman,I'm not attacking Kimber, or you for that matter. I have Kimber IC's and speaker cable through out my system, except the tt -> pre. I'm just saying a cable that is terminated the same way at both ends is not directional. And yes, I'm very...
Directional interconnect cables
Rodmann,I did read what you submitted. I also noticed that it was written by a Kimber salesman. 'nough said.
Directional interconnect cables
07-29-08: Rodman99999It depends totally on the manufacturer. Kimber for instance grounds both ends(shields and connectors) of their cables(balanced and single-ended), and the arrow(or direction of the printing) indicates the signal flow.If both en...
Directional interconnect cables
I agree with the common ground idea, "star grounding". However, in the case of a phono pre, this kinda goes out the window:CDP -> PRE TT -> Phono -> Pre
Hum.....??
Aaaarrrggghhhh!I'm going crazy here. I've tried everything. Reversing plugs, unplugging everything except the amp and the phono pre. No luck. I took the table apart, no problems there, wiring wise. I pulled the wand off, unmounted the arm, checked...
cables are they worth it?
Cables can make a difference. Or should I say cable types. I'm running Kimber Hero's through out my system. I had a pair that I was going to use from the tt to the pre..... Well, that didn't work. Very bad hum. So, I put the cheapo cable back on u...
Hum.....??
Tg,That's just it. I replaced a cheap set of IC's with the Hero's. That's when the hum started. Too bad to. Besides the hum, it sounded better.
SME series III update
No problem at all with room. Yes, I am using the silicon damping with it. All is good. Well, I need to adjust the lifter height. I raises the arm a mile off the record and just barely clears when in the playing position.
SME series III update
Cw,Yes, it is the vintage SME III. I got the wand here from a fellow agoner. It appears to be virtually new. All original packaging, cartridge mounting compound and bias weight that had never been opened. No marks on it at all.
Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions
Here's the email I got from Ken..... for all the other SME owners out there."I'm assuming the SME III uses the typical SME adjustable base mount. Does it also have slots in the headshell? If it does, I need to know what mounting distance you want ...
Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions
I contacted Ken Willis on my arm and he told me if it was an SME with the sliding base and no slots in the headshell, he recommended NOT using his protractor. He told me to use the SME supplied cardboard guide. His reasoning was because the SME's ...
Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions

Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions
Excuse me if this is redundant. What about those of us that have an older SME arm that uses the Stevenson geometry? Is it possible to use an arc protractor for these? Aren't most, if not all based on Baerwald? I ask because I just installed a Grad...
