No this isn't an American Idol question. I saw in the paper she turned 38 a few days ago and the paper listed her as a singer. I've never heard anything that she's done, is she a singer? Or, is she any good?
I saw her in concert once. She opened up for Chris Isaak. She was pretty good live. Much different than her "over produced" videos. Seemed very down to earth & interacted with the crowd very well, decent voice.
"She's released several albums over the past twenty-five years or so. I don't recall ever seeing any of them in the store but I do remember seeing her on some of the pop music shows such as 'Solid Gold' back twenty years or so ago when an album was being released. I wasn't enticed to buy the records and I don't think that many other people were either."

You must be thinking of someone else. She was 13 years old 25 years ago and was not recording. She released her first album when she was 35.
