Emotiva XPA-1 or Wyred SX/ST-1000

You better check the rest of your equipment. I had an NAD218 that had static in the left channel. Got tired of dealing with it. Sold it and bought another amp. Static remained. Turned out the be the left channel of the Denon CD player that it was hooked to. Now I miss the NAD.

I have also been asking the Emotiva question. So far my research has led me to believe the Emotiva gear is good but not as competitive with higher end gear as the Wyred. I am on the verge of trying one of the Wyred 500 watt multi channel uniits.

BTW. The Emotiva put the pos and neg speaker terminals 13 inches apart. A lot of people have complained about their high end cables not being able to bridge the gap.

For me, Emotiva XPA-1 is better than the Wyred hands down. I had Wyred and was not happy with them at all. Replaced them with XPA-1 and have been happy ever since. My speakers are B&W802D and processor Classe ssp800.

Just my 2 cents; I had an Emotiva XPA-1 last year; it's pleasant and easy on the ears but I got kind of bored with it's sound and sold it. Presently I'm using a Wyred 4 Sound ST-250 and like it much better. My preamp is an ARC LS16, speakers are Dynaudio Contour 3.4s and dac is a PS Audio DL III.

My apologies regarding my previous post; I had the XPA-2 stereo amp and not the XPA-1; was thinking the XPA-1 was the big stereo amp. Another nice thing about the W4S amps is you won't have to worry about developing a hernia; I would keep my eye out for a used pair to try.

Im looking for something to power my B&W 801s i just got for free. I have to find a amp to power them its not easy so many out there . I see some good things about these amps .but still not sure .. I just hate to spend the money and not be happy with it ,, Any help will be great ..
