Thorens Excelda Compact Record Player

A friend who is retiring and moving from Michigan to Florida presented me with a Thorens compact phonograph record player called an 'Excelda'. It was crafted during the late 30's and 40's. Its 100% complete and actually works! The movement is like a fine Swiss analog watch and it even has a governor for speed control! A nice museum piece for my stereo rack! Hope the above link takes you where its suppose to.....Neat history.

Fascinating. That must have been considered extremely innovative at the time. Thanks for sharing.
That is so very cool, thanks! I guess this could be considered the very first "Walkman", eh?
