Where to now.?

Hello.
I am looking for some advice as to my next move.
I am about to take delivery of some KR Kronzilla monos.
I have had the KR P135 preamp for a while and rate it quite highly. Not the best in any one department but among the most musical and enjoyable I have heard.
my questions are the following.
Is it good enough to to pair with the world renown Kronzillas. My thought process is that KR think so or they would have made something else.
will I get much more if I go for a more highly regarded pre from different manufacturer.
I have an opportunity to also get a WAVAC PRT1 which is very highly regarded

but not sure if it will pair as well over all

love to hear your comments.
thanks.

Thank you all. I will do as advised here. I will revert back in a little while. 👍🏼

@prehig

It is wise to be patient and methodical in this scenario. Listen and evaluate how the KR amplifiers and preamplifier work together as a pairing. Your P135 preamplifier is very highly thought of and considered to be very good sounding. Using the DHT 45 tubes is an excellent approach and by many accounts, well implemented.

With regard for the Wavac PRT1 preamplifier, is your supposition based upon it’s much more expensive and is better by default? It may or may not be better sounding. Granted it does possess an undeniable intriguing mystique and aesthetic beauty. It’s a circuit based on the 12Au7 tubes and I suspect exceptionally well implemented and has a separate external power supply.

I do not doubt it sounds terrific. But is it necessarily better? Obviously, only a direct component to component comparison will determine that. But I would not underestimate what you currently have. The KR designer is very talented and experienced.

Best wishes

Charles

Thanks Charles. You are spot on. I do rate the p135. I have heard better but it wasn’t with kr amps. Yes. I’m thinking that WAVAC is considerably more to buy but also has had incredible reviews.  My thoughts are P135 must be good enough otherwise KR would have made another model.
thank for you advice.
best.

Purely out of curiosity, what speakers are you using with those beautiful amps?
