i came across an article that claimed it was once considered the best jazz album ever released.  It featured alto saxophonist Charlie Parker, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, pianist Bud Powell, bassist Charles Mingus, and drummer Max Roach playing together as a group.

A great album for a beautiful spring day!  The liner notes describe them at proto-punk.  Kinda sounds like the B-52s to me.
