Compact receiver for bedroom

Looking for a compact receiver with two sets of speaker outputs for the bedroom in our new house. The previous owners had in-wall speakers -- Brand X -- in the bedroom and the master bath. The wires are in place; all we need is a small receiver (space there is limited). As this will mostly be for listening to the news in the morning or the ball game at night, audiophile quality is not our goal here. Having something that fits on the bureau alongside the other stuff, however, and being able to switch between two pairs of loudspeakers, though, does matter.
New or used. Not a million dollars.
Thanks.

The gent asked about driving two sets of speakers... Linn Classik is the the right choice as it drives two sets of speakers easily, has a tuner, CDP, and finally it just sounds pretty damned good. I'll say it again, it has four speaker output jacks to drive two pairs of speakers and does it well.
If you can live with the power limitations, the Advent 300 Receiver is a great vintage choice. I owned one for years.

I had the same needs. I bought an Arcam Solo Mini, It sounds great, is very easy to use, has a wonderful CD player. One of my favorite features is the various alarm and clock functions. it wakes me up with my favorite FM/npr station.

I tried the Arcam in my main system just for fun to compare it's performance with the ultra expensive stuff. I was amazed at how well it performed as a preamp and as a CD player. Very nice small unit.

Good luck!
