I have had my Lores since October. Eric was very accommodating. I needed them shipped so they would arrive on a certain day and he went the extra mile to make sure it would happen. They are very easy to drive. I'm using a restored 30 watt vintage Scott amp and I have more than enough power. For the money they are an absolute steal. They ran me a little over a $1000 shipped to Philadelphia. I think 30hz is a little optimistic on the bass. I think the mid 30's is more reasonable spec. The vast majority of music doesn't go below 40hz anyway. I'm in a medium size room and as far as I'm concerned the bass is fine. I think anyone with a low powered tube amp should definitely consider the Lores. As I said before they are an absolute steal for the money.
Cpapace - How big is your room? I have the Lores and ordered the Pendragons. I hope my room is big enough. My room is 22 x 14 x 7 with the speakers on the long wall. The speakers will be about 3' from the front wall with one speaker about 6' from the side wall and the other about 4'. I'll be seated about 10' from the speakers. I hope I didn't make a mistake.
Gpowered - Feel free to chime in.
I own the Lores and I have to agree with Cwazz on this one. I think 30 may be a bit optimistic. If we're talking about a flat response I think 38-40 would be more accurate. Anything below that and the bass starts to roll off. That being said, most of the music I listen to doesn't go much below 38-40 and I am pretty mush satisfied with the bass. I think a stand up acoustic bass goes down to about 40. It's only when I play some very complex (and loud) orchestral music that the Lores can run into a little bit of trouble. They can only move so much air. That is why I'm upgrading to the Pendragons. If I was in a smaller room I would probably stay with the Lores.
Gpowered-Did you use the the 4 ohm or 8 ohm tap with the Xindak and the Pendragons? I wasn't aware they were 4 ohm speakers until 3 weeks after I placed the order. TIA.
My Lores arrived today. These are my second pair. With 95% of the music I listen to the Lores were fantastic. I got greedy and wanted the extra 5% so I upgraded to the Pendragons. To make a long story short, the Pendragons didn't work out for me. I tried everything I could think of but I just couldn't get them to sound right. They were overpowering the room and the bass was a little muddy. I think some vintage amps prefer an 8 ohm load as opposed to the Pendragons 4 ohm load. I was thinking of trying a more modern tube amp, but I am committed to the Scott and I still had the room to deal with and I didn't want to spend any more money. I sure with a more modern amp and an appropriate size room the Pendragons would sound excellent. I just finished listening to Joni Mitchell's "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" and it never sounded better. I think the Lores are a perfect match for my room and amp. All is well again. I learned a very expensive lesson. The Lore is one hell of a speaker.
I'm glad you're enjoying them. If only I had a bigger room. Oh well. Looks like my loss was your gain. My Lores arrived yesterday and I couldn't be happier. Everything is right again.
I can see where the Lores may not be enough for your room. I'm in a 22x14 room with the speakers on the long wall. I sit around 8.5' from the speakers and my sofa is right up against the rear wall. I went from the Lores (which I loved) to the P-Dragons (which I didn't) and back to the Lores. The Dragons just completely overwhelmed my room. No matter what I did I just couldn't get them to sound right. I suspect that part of the problem may have been the 4 ohm impedance. I'm using a fully restored Scott LK72-b amp. At the time of purchase I didn't know the Dragons were a four ohm speaker. Had I known I wouldn't have bought them. A more modern tube amp may have helped a little, but I still had the room to deal with. I'm committed to the Scott so the Dragons had to go. I learned a very expensive lesson.
It's funny how in the name of tolerance, liberals have become one of the most intolerant people in the world. It's either your way or the highway.
Very very disappointed!
Rotarius is the typical example of a liberal, left wing, arrogant, elitist snob. It's not all his fault. He went through 12 years of indoctrination in school and probably 4 more years in college. All his friends and family are lefties. He gets all of his news from the lefties. Everything he knows about life he got from lefties. He really didn't stand a chance. Instead of condemning him we should pity him.
