Hi all ! Been running my Lore's and Mini Beast for almost a week now and I am very happy with both . I plan to pull the Mini Beast out and tidy up the wiring a bit . I think I will put the Cary in and see how that does . In triode mode it is 50 wpc. The Mini Beast is only 4 wpc and hasnt clipped yet as far as I can tell . Both the lore and mini beast are most excellent.....crazy good for the money . If it wasnt for you guys I would have ever known about these . BTW ...gpowered we both have a common friend.... good ole stereoal from north tampa , talked to him last night ..... thx again all , brad
Hi all ! Evank... I think the veneer is $250 or $300 upcharge . Rsfphil....That 4 ohm load on the Pendragons is what steered me to the Lores . My small tube amp doesnt like low ohms . These Lores are just fantastic .
Hi all ! Great idea guys as I like to stand sometimes and listen , tilting them a bit might be the ticket . I agree these things just nuts . Everyone that has heard mine just sit there and shake their heads , esp when I tell them they are only getting 4wpc , max .
Hi all ! I am getting as much detail from my Lore's than I do with my Thiel 1.6's , using the same system . Power Plant Premier , Cary 303 / 300 , Cary Slp -03 , Belles a150 ( for the next couple days until my Paramounts are done). Mostly Tara wire with some LAT and Vansevers in there. Love these Lore's as they are not the usual "hi fi " sound , wish my room was big enough for the Pendragons .
Hi all ! I agree with Mikirob , mine sound wonderful with 50 watts of triode from the Cary V12 ....no harshness at all with any recordings . I did get one of my Paramount monoblocks completed and hooked up one channel...lets just say I am very sure it will take my system to a whole new level when I finish the other one . Maybe a darker sounding cable will get you to where you need to be?
Hi all ! Rsfphil.....My room is just a touch smaller than yours and have been tempted by the Pendragons . I kinda figured out my Lore's have great bass in my room and not to mess with the Pendragons . your comments above reconfirm for me to stay with the Lores . There has got to be something wrong with these things tho....I am driving a pair of $1000 speakers with $14,000 worth of equipment....kind of blows that rule of spending 1/3 or whatever of your budget on speakers . They just cant be this good...lol
Hi all ! Rayray8......just be patient , you will be rewarded with great sound and great dynamics.
Hi all ! I agree that it is fun to see what
great electronics do with these speakers . I am using an Ayon CD-2s cd player , a Cary slp-05 pre with a Cary v12 amp . Sounds quite dynamic and musical . Dont really feel the need to " upgrade" these speakers , although if my room was bigger I would get the Pendragons .
Hi all ! Yes indeed , another positive review for the Lore . This speaker will hopefully remain unchanged for a very long time , a classic for sure .
Hi all ! Whatever you do , dont get a nice 10 - 20 wpc tube integrated to drive those Lore's . ( audio heaven could result ). Hope you enjoy them as much as we all do !
Hi all ! I dont know about that Crown amp . Just the name brings back bad amplifier memories from the '70 s . The little Belles A150 is a nice little amp and can be had for $450 - $550 . Al tells me you are looking for an 8 ohm version of the 'dragons?
Hi all ! Looks like me and Mikirob had the same nightmare in the '70 s . Boniccie...wish I had the room for the 'dragons , lucky guy you are . Morganc...I was going to build some bass traps too and then got lazy and just bought some . A nice little trick is to stack pillows in different corners to see where they should placed . Another way is to just stick your head in each corner of the room and listen . The corner or corners with the strongest bass is where they go .
Hi all ! On large scale loud stuff the Lore's are effortless. Mine are loud and clear with 15wpc .
