The Mystix last night at One Longfellow Square, Portland, Maine. I think it holds about 200 listeners. Singer/guitars/leader Jo Lily, guitar Bobby Keyes, bass (electric & standup) Jesse Williams, drums Marty Richards, harmonica & organ Annie Raines, fiddle Matt Leavenworth. And from the audience Jug Band James on the washboard and spoons. It was a show I did not want to end. Even the I hate your music wife loved it!
Richard Thompson. Last Friday @ Westbrook Performing Arts Center. Played solo and only used 1 guitar for nearly 2 hours. When he played and sang Vincent Black Lightning 1952 I swore he has 15 fingers. A really great show and a great 1000 seat venue. It's at the junior high school and sponsored by the city of Westbrook.
Do small venue (less than 500 seats) count as concerts, most things I see mentioned here seem to be large shows / big sound? if so then we listened and saw Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Dave Alvin at The Bull Run in Shirley Mass 11/3/17. 2 guys playin’, singin’ and tellin’ tales. Had not heard/seen JDG for 15-20 years, saw DA approx 2 years ago. Both were in great form, wonderful selection of old songs. Pretty good venue in a centuries old building.

Billy Strings  at Thompson Point, Portland Maine. July 28, 2023. It was fantastic, a great band.
