Your experience/thought on best sounding SACD/CD Player for 1,500 or less

My current players are a bit old and am considering a new SACD/CD player.  I have much invested in discs and want to be able to get the best from them that I can afford.  Not that it matters, but I listen most to female vocals and Jazz from the 50s through the 70s.  I prefer electronics with discreet transistors rather than I.C. chips.   Thanks

I would be interested in learning which players currently owned.
There has never been a better time to invest in a disc-spinner.

Take stock in Ayre, Esoteric, Oppo, Pioneer (Elite), Sony (ES) to name a few starters.  I look forward in reading more about your musical tastes and system.
