Your choice(s) for a non-standard item from a high-end company?

A gem that I should have never sold was the Audio Research LS-12 pre-amp.  It was/is non-standard for ARC as it is solid state.  It was not what people expected/wanted from Audio Research but a very good sounding solid state pre-amp.
