Yep much to do about nothing. Fear brains.

Careful which box you try to “fit” someone in. I consider myself conservative but I’m unwilling to accept the MAGA party line. When is the last time you did something compassionate, open minded or even mingled with non-white, angry old white guys like yourself? I’d wager the value of your minivan you live southof the Mason-Dixon.

Who gives a shyt about a news report from two years ago about a protest that turned into a riot... It's not like it was an insurrection or anything that stupid! Besides finding joy in absurdly pointing out the absurd, what else do you enjoy? Life's too short to be miserable, pacing about a barcalounger filled cozy suburban house, yelling at people from behind a window to "get off my lawn".

@secretguy

Guys like Artemus and clearthinker can’t ruin anything unless you let them. The topic of the thread was basically the perceived tube problem isnt really a problem. Someone posts an anti BLM comment. We can react or we can keep on moving. Clearthinker decides to pick on a typo in one of my posts because…well, he probably thinks I was criticizing his Team. Whatever….slowing down for stupid isnt productive so lets just keep on moving.

So, the tube and baby formula supply chain issues will get worked out.

Yes, the Commons was very important to early Americans

It was the social media of the day. Keep in mind though that vehement disagreement on the village green back then could lead to the occasional duel.

@music_is_life

Not to worried about it as McDonalds is failing here also.

When fast food is the economic barometer we are all in deep crap. More worried about the price of gas record inflation and mothers unable to feed their babies. And none of that has to do with Russia.

McDonald's is doing fine. Inflation happens...maybe its time to buy tulip bulbs? Regarding formula, where did the vikings get their formula? What on earth did babies consume prior to Similac(sp?).

Wouldn’t it be kindof cool if those who make bombastic or apocolyptic claims to be required to list their geographic location and a summary of their qualifications? That way people could take their comments in context and arrive at an appropriate opinion of their bonadifes.

For instance: Hi, I’m Joe. I live in Cortland, NY in my parents basement. I was the first alternate on my church chess team in middle school. For the past 43 years I have been the assistant manager at Subway and I feel uniquely qualified to discuss the effects of monetary policy and the global supply chain weaknesses because a “duhmata” (tomato) now costs more. I also believe the last president was better because he too likes guns, chicks and not paying his bills.

@mahgister

I wasn’t making fun of Subway managers. I also wasn’t making fun of Subway assistant managers. I was making fun of someone who had risen to assistant manager status and not progressed for over four decades. I would never debate room acoustics with you (for a multitude of reasons), it wouldn’t be wise. I was making fun of the generic person on Audiogon who has no clue about a topic on which they opine. Some do so repeatedly. "All dacs sound the same" or "so and so caused inflation" or "so and so caused the supply chain disruptions".

@mlsstl

I completely understand the need for formula and its considerable benefits to society and mankind. Obviously I failed to convey the sarcastic humor I intended. I guess, buried deep down in my sarcasm is that people should have a fallback plan. On everything that is important to them...we have a large pantry, we have no children but there is baby formula on the shelf....why, its a fallback plan for our guests. So, I guess you can say that I prepare for contingencies both professionally and personally. I dont build homes on the banks of a river that floods or on the coast prone to hurricanes. Thanks for your post as I was likely not communicating the seriousness I feel for the problem while trying to point out that when unfortunate happenings occur, I am not one of those looking to the government for a solution.

@kingdeezie

What I find sad and pathetic are people that are so married to their politics that they dismiss the very evident reality that right now infants in this country are at risk of starvation, malnutrition, and death because of the shortage.

These same individuals had no issue casting aspersions at the previous administration ad nauseum for grievances that were far-less tangible.

This situation is disgraceful regardless of what type of administration is in charge.

I'm not sure that baby formula is the government's responsibility. There are substitute food sources. Maybe not ideal but not a nuclear holocaust.

@mahgister

Now the west  is in a suicide mode, assisted  suicide for sure...

There is no conspiracy, only an orchestrated stupidity on a massive scale...

or not.

I guess I can come off as mildly amused at the over reactions I see on this forum. "times are hard" "the economy is tanking" ...yadayada. If you have sufficient savings and a balanced/sane financial approach, then there can be times where some see strife where others see opportunities, right?

@mahgister

All due respect to you but in the event there is an apocalypse, that can only happen once. Why spend every day dwelling on the remote possibility of a cataclysmic event? In addition, what good is it to be right if the world is going to end then to whom would you get to boast that you were right?

And Sri Lanka...I’m not sure how that topic entered the conversation.

@kingdeezie

Please save the sermon, I recognize its a serious problem. I thought this thread was about made in Russia audio tubes. Then.... baby formula gets tossed in and then Sri Lanka. As a parent, its their responsibility to identify alternatives until the supply chain gets worked out.

@mahgister

I’ve always enjoyed your posts and appreciate that you feel strongly about certain topics.

You seem to be upset that I’m not upset. I am concerned about everything you are upset about, I just tend to gravitate toward solutions oriented problem solving rather than to virtually self immolate with every current event. In short, I seek positives and jettison the negatives. Its an attitude...obviously one you don’t or can’t share. That’s cool. I’ll just keep doing my thing, being overtly happy, employing happy people, doing good when I feel the urge and ignoring those who over react daily about whatever it is that people love to over react about.

No, of course personal savings isn’t enough...but if people have made good financial decisions and been fortunate while doing so, they typically don’t have to make rash decisions when faced with challenges. Once they do make a decision, they typically have the resources to maneuver.

Once again, I thought this was a website for a hobby, one that frankly isn’t a requirement for survival....which classifies it as a luxury. Therefore I assume that those who frequent this website can afford these luxuries. If they can’t, then that isn’t my bucket of excrement to carry.

In short, we can coexist but I refuse to accept the outrage of anyone who happens to be outraged at the idea that I’m not outraged.

We should draft the president and the only disqualifier initially should be to exclude anyone who wants the job. We seem to be forced to choose between the second dirtiest shirt and the dirtiest shirt in the hamper.

@clearthinker I clearly made a typo…my sincere apologies that of all the posts in this thread that my typo affected you so deeply.
