The standard WT foam mat will take on quite a static charge. Sticks to everything. Mainly records. Had this happen several times. I once took the record off while platter was spinning. Mat stuck to record and then partially came loose and almost wiped out my $1200 cartridge. I use a thick felt Rega mat and this works fine.
