You will not be able to record a type IV metal tape using a deck only capable of type II tape. Type IV tapes require special high-flux magnetic heads and high current amplifiers to magnetize the tape properly. Without the high flux, the recordings will have higher distortion and lower output, resulting in poor signal to noise and SQ. They can be played back on the 70µs equalization if recorded properly with a deck capable of RECORDING type IV metal tape. Simply a waste of money for very poor sound.
