Worst Rock Band Ever !!!!

Kiss is too self-consciously parodistic for classification as the worst. However, they do qualify to the extent that fans take them seriously. The Rutles and Spinal Tap were on similar ground. What can one say about an album like "Break Like the Wind"? Good or bad?

To be truly awful a band must have pretensions. Journey, Rush, Styx, Kansas, are fine examples of the worst of their era. Each era has its own examples.

Jack White is okay by me if he convinced Jimmy Page and The Edge to make a great movie with him. That's very good company.

Ascension to worst-ever R&R band should require a multi-part test, something like the Supreme Court's definition of pornography: (1) high bombast + (2) pretentious self-seriousness + (3) technical incompetence + (4)broad if ephemeral popularity. In my lifetime it's Grand Funk Railroad.
