WILSON AUDIO.....BIG NAME, BIG PRICE........ARE THEY THAT GOOD?

Are Wilsons the best? are they worth the money? Looking at used watt puppy 8 or Sophia 3.

Heard Wilson Sasha DAW yesterday.  The best I've ever heard. blows away Magico, Rockport, B&W . Blows away everything.  Wilson is the best. Now I have to convince myself to spend the money. it's a ridiculous price for a pair of loudspeakers.
that's what I was considering keithtexas. I can get a pair of Watt puppy 8's for 6 grand. Sasha DAW used is still beyond my budget as well as Sasha 1 or 2. Sophia 3 if I stretch maybe.  Really would like to get their newer models with the silk dome tweeter. Don't care for the Focal metal dome.
Yeah TAD is designed by Andrew Jones. He basically ruined KEF. Guy hasn't a clue how to design a loudspeaker.  Von Schweikert? They sell about 3 pairs of speakers a year. There is a reason why.
Look, I know the new Wilson stuff is good but what about shelling out 6 grand for 14 year year old watt puppy 8's?
I can get a pair of Watt puppy 8 for 6 grand . Sophia 3's run about 8 grand. Might have to go to sophia 3. I can get Sophia 2 for 6 grand.
I might need 3 threads for this. Speaker purchase being done this week. Wilson watt puppy 8's, or O go cheap and get Aerial model 9 used or Sonus faber cremona m used.
Sasha 2 uses a silk dome tweeter which I sure wish the old Wilsons used. Not a fan of focal metal domes.
I was looking at Tekton Moabs but they are having trouble getting drivers to make them so its a 3 month wait minimum. I need something now.  If a Majestic 545 Sound Lab came up used, I'd be a player. Good luck finding a used pair though. Martin logans aren't doing it for me with their hybrid designs.  If I'm going planar, it's gotta be full range. Thought about Maggie 3.7i, but even with my 300 watt Krell it may not be enough power for those. Maybe I'll just get a decent speaker to get me by until something else pops up.
mijostyn, I had Acoustat 2 plus 2's 20 years ago on a Krell stack. Amazing speakers.  I just had Acoustat model 3's and they finally gave out and the panels started to rattle. I miss the punch that dynamic speakers have but I don't think I would be happy 100 percent owning a dynamic speaker.  I had Tektons. don't let the naysayers fool you. They are decent loudspeakers. Thought about Moabs with the same drivers covering 300 hz to 20k hz with 6 db slopes would be seamless like a planar but with punch. I think the old Wilsons are out. It's between the Magnepan 3.7i and Tekton Moab. I can get them brand new compared to the 14 year old Wilsons at the same price.
I sold my Tekton Enzo Xl that I was going to trade in on a pair of Moabs. I don't like to wait for things. Moabs might take 6 months to get because of supply problems.  Plus I just decided I really don't want that big of a speaker. I may still get them but I am looking at other options.  If they had a pair in stock, I probably would have them already.
Stereo unlimited in San Diego has some Vandersteen Quatro's coming in on trade for the model 7's hmmmmm.........
there were a pair of Maxx 2 in California for sale asking price 13 grand. I thought about them, then realized I live in a 1200 square ft hi rise in Las Vegas and cannot accommodate speakers of that size. I'm looking for sophia or watt puppy sized speakers that pack a punch. I do not like laid back sound. I want a lively bright loudspeaker.
My listening room is 14.5 by 17 leading into a kitchen and dining area which would make it 14.5 by 27. 9 ft ceilings. its a good size room. I prefer MAXX 2's. MAXX 1 is too old.
decathlon, I plan to run a 400 dollar Denon reciever on the Maxx 2's. I upgraded from the Sony so I can really hear what Wilsons can do.
Ever heard the bass of the ELAC ADANTE? Pure crap. That engineer is nearly as stupid as Andrew Jones. Let's put small drivers INSIDE the cabinet and have 3 passive radiators. lmao!! Sure way to have ZERO bass power and articulation. Andrew Jones likes to do the same thing as well as taking a legendary British company down the drain only for the Chinese to take them over.  KEF sure deserved better.
very familiar with that concept.  Now if it was the way to go, why don't all the others do it? because it sucks!!! I have heard the Adante. The Bass is a joke. it doesn't have any bass. unless of course you are used to a Andrew Jones designed loudspeaker.
