Will a DVD player work with a computer monitor?

I don't want to own a TV (too ugly), so I was wondering if a stand-alone DVD player will work with a computer monitor?

In any case you would need a computer between the stand-alone DVD player and computer monitor. I am not aware of a computer monitor that will accept the DVD signal. There probally is a video card that would accept the DVD input. IMHO, you should just look at a computer with a DVD drive and decent video card.
