The 12000 has a tube preamp and the i2s is a MA12000 DAC input. The DAC feeds the 12000’s preamp. Players have internal DAC and the i2s is internal and feeds the internal DAC. McIntosh transports have i2s which can be used with the 12000.
Why no MCT port on Mcintosh MCD players
Why wouldn't Mcintosh put a MCT port on the MCD players. Isn't the MCT port the best way to listen to SACDs? That also brings up the question with the new Flagship Mcintosh MCD12000. It has a MCT input port but not an output port. Excuse if I am wrong on this, but wasn't the MCT port developed by Mcintosh to send purest information to a PreAmp. So McIntosh is expecting you to buy another MCT SACD player to connect it to the MCD12000?
