Which sounds better?
a DFF 1bit 2822.4kHz DSD download or a FLAC 24 bit 192 kHz download (e.g. something from Channel Classics)?
In case it makes a difference, I have a 2 channel tube system, ARC Ref 40, ARC Ref 250s, Vandersteen 5a's. My wife and I listen only to classical music (albeit somewhat broadly defined)
More than one audiophile has told me that the PCM download sounds better (something about the DSD standard having been frozen at one bit). Music Servers that accept DSD feeds seem to be in the minority. Also (at least at Channel Classics) the DSD version is half again as expensive as the FLAC and quite a bit larger.
Thanks,
