Rectify and filter in the PS chassis. Filter again near the amplifier board. The capacitors near the amplifier provide low impedance DC power (unaffected by the chassis-to-chassis wire).
Where to rectify
In a two chassis amplifier design, is the power rectified in the power supply chassis or in the amplifier chassis?
I am building a gainclone amp and was thinking that noise picked up by the umbilical cord may be rejected if it is still AC and rectified in the chassis housing the driver board. Is my thinking flawed? I seem to recall that all the two chassis amps I ever owned always had the rectification done in the power supply chassis.
Thanks
Paul
