whatsbestforum - what's going on

I thought I could reduce my presence here and participate elsewhere so I registered on this site called whatsbestforum. First it looked harmless. I did not read the about section.

I made one comment, a speaker recommendation - did not name or mention anyone - just posted a link to a speaker site and I was immediately banned. The site went into an endless loop, with the you are banned message. I can't log off or view anything, the only way I can view it is if I start another private browser. On top of that, a few hours later, the message changed to "Your IP address has been banned."  Like I am some kind of criminal to be kept away with a restraining order and pepper spray.

I wonder if it's an exclusive site or a cult, and if anyone from here is a successful member over there. The about us section is truly disturbing. I am not taking it personally, but it does bother me of course.

Everyone likes something different and I don’t intend to take issue with anyone who has had an experience unlike mine. I can only say that I enjoy WBF. I’ve never had anyone try to sell me anything on that site, nor has anyone ever treated me in a discourteous manner. I think the forum is a bit better organized in terms of the topic breakdowns than this one, and I particularly like the discussions centered on particular manufacturers.

There are folks there who have strong opinions, of course, and they sometimes clash. I’ve not seen it get nearly as personal as it does here, but I don’t read every post. I have encountered a lot of very knowledgeable people who seem willing to share their experience on WBF.

I find the same thing on this forum, which is why I take a look at it almost every day. It is not unusual here that if someone posts a question about an upcoming product decision that a dealer will immediately and directly try to sell them, because the dealer just so happens to have the perfect answer to a question that was often unasked. I find that annoying and I don’t think it should be allowed, but it’s not a dealbreaker and I don’t own the forum. If it annoyed me enough, I would leave, But I do think it’s bad form.

I think it’s generally, not universally, the case that WBF discussions revolve around equipment toward the higher end and Audiogon is more likely to cover everything from very inexpensive to very costly equipment. Both have their place and it’s good to have a choice.

the one thing that seems to bring these disparate sites together is that any mention of ASR evokes a vociferous, emotional response. I find that amusing and always enjoy those discussions.

@daveyf mentioned - "You have no idea of the facts, why would you, you get all of your information from the two owners who you report to."

Once again, spewing a lie. I do know the facts and you do not get to dictate them. Please allow me to offer you this. I DO NOT report to the owners, neither do any of the moderation team members. This has not only been publicly posted by myself, but by the owners as well. This is not a closely held secret. It’s public knowledge and has been discussed over at the WBF on multiple occasions.

It would be appreciated if you would just let the "divorce" between the WBF and yourself become amicable, and not an unreasonable, mud slinging, nasty and rancid one.

@treitz3  Tom keep going, you clearly are a good foot soldier.

Oh, and while you are at it, please remove ALL of my content from the WBF site. I have requested this before, as I certainly do NOT wish for that content to continue to give the owners and you any further benefit. I expect to hear crickets about this, just like i have before.

*Sigh*

It appears that all you want to do is argue. That's not my style and with that said, this will be my last communication with you.

When you signed up to be a member, you agreed (as every single one of our members did) to the WBF's TOS. I'd like to remind you that TOS #18 states the following - "All material posted becomes the property of the What's Best Forum."

Therefore, we will not honor your request. The removal of your posts would break apart the natural flow of conversations, making things very confusing to those who read up on a particular topic.

With that said, this conversation is over, as I prefer to simply walk away from someone who continually throws gas back on the fire. I wish you the best in your audio journey. Have a nice life.

Tom

You can ‘sigh’ as much as you like, but now we can all see what it is like to be under the supercilious and onerous mods and owners at the WBF!
You have zero issue with benefitting from the many prior threads that I initiated on the forum, including the one that introduced the Alsyvox speakers to the members. Now, you see no problem continuing to garner exposure to the sight (eyeballs) and justifying said action by hiding behind your TOS, which I did NOT agree to.
”Natural flow of conversations”, whom are you kidding, it is totally dysfunctional on your site!
