Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

@reubent, @bdp24,

I’ve finished listening to "This Sweet Old World". AS you know, I’ve never heard the original, so I come to it from a different perspective.

When I first saw it on the market, I had reservations, therefore I did not order it. After hearing it was the recording she really wanted, drove me to order it. I’m glad I did!

Although I did not recognize there are two versions when I ordered mine, I ended up with the dlb lp with side 1 a marbled yellow gold, side 2 a marbled grey. These colors seem to match the writing on the outer jacket. I know the other pressing is suppose to be pink.

It seems the first 2 or 3 songs have some inconsistency. The overall character of the lp compared to my other Lucinda lps maybe slightly on the dark or compressed side. My best way of describing this would be comparing "Pineola" on this lp and "Live at the Fillmore" lp. The Fillmore is much more open/transparent. This is not enough to keep me from really enjoying the music though.

As you know, I never heard the original. Having said this, I’m loving this record. I was kind of surprised how much it really rocks!. I’m so glad I now own it.

I could easily imagine this record fitting in between "World Without Tears" - "West".
Thanks bdp24!

I'm glad you get It! Her singing on the new TSOW...to me..is Awesome!
@pops ,

@gerdessc,

Cool! Which record are you listening to? Are you familiar with his total output? If not, I may be able to help....if you want.

Steve
@gerdessc,

No problem. There is no bad record that he has ever been involved with, IMO.

For a milder, more introspective..check out his Swell Season records.
For a good mix of mild,soulfull stuff check out his solo stuff.
For a more rockin’/intense experience check out The Frames, particularly "Fitzcaraldo".
His latest.."Between Two Shores" is no let down. Very Good!

Then there is his tribute to Jason Molina.Excellent! in every way
His collaboration with Eddie Vedder,..damn good!
The great Annie Lennox......Eurythmics "Be Yourself Tonight" "Sweet Dreams..." (lps)

@nutty,

Don't know if you remember.....? you posted "Free For All" a while back. This brought back a lot of memories. I knew I owned it at one time. Could not find it. I attended a record show last Sunday, I stumbled upon a WLP /w/ DJ timing strip "Free For All"\. I'm pretty darn happy...... will listen this weekend, hopefully?

 I actually ended up with some really nice finds, all in great condition!
@kumakahn,

Is "Day of the Eagle" a real album title?

Having said that, it is a great song..but there's SO MUCH more of his catalog for you to discover. This might have been best to do before posting a "finding" on just one (cd)?
