Whats playing on your system today?
+ 1 on Take what you need. I don't believe Trower has a bad albumn. I have Davey Pattison on my "top vocalist" list as well. We probably should have mentioned James Dewar also. He's mighty good as well. Check out this band....Red Stone Souls. (Heavy stoner doom blues.) "Harder every day". https://youtu.be/RWqu-C5IA_4 N |
100 Watt Vipers, Something wicked this way comes. 2 piece heavy blues/rock. JJ Grey & Mofro, This river. "Your lady is shady". https://youtu.be/1pvGjWMXpjE N |
Gwyn Ashton, Radiogram. Australian blues rock. Trio with heavy guitar. Worth a listen if you haven’t heard of him. Guy from The FabulousThunderbirds plays harmonica on "Little Girl". https://youtu.be/jXG7i3ki4Io N |
Joanne Shaw Taylor, Songs from the Road, DVD. I spent last evening with my Brother and arcam88 and watched Joanne Shaw Taylor's "Songs from the Road" DVD. Filmed in London in a small club she put on a hell of a show. The set list is great and full of blistering solos. She also knows how to slow it down and walk you through songs like "Jealousy" and "Diamonds in the dirt". Her tallent is on par with current and past blues guitar greats. (I think she channels Stevie Ray) Her vocals are fantastic and unique and the way she attacks her Gibson guitar is relentless. Without useing a guitar pick. The audio is loud and a bit over driven. But the talent and musicianship makes you forget any production issues. I highly recommend watching the disc if your into concert DVD's and blues. She is one of my favorites young blues guitarist. She must be doing something right. She opened for Glenn Hughes. Glenn know talent. Sonics: 2-3/4 ☆ Performance: 5 ☆ Video: 3 ☆ N |
L.A. Blues Authority V. CD Ambrosia, Life beyond L.A. Glenn Hughes, The way it it. I feel it's his best. But he has soooo much its difficult. Dead Soul Tribe, song "Some things you can't return". (Haunting!) Kingdom Come, song "Twilight Cruiser". Trapeze, Medeusa............ radfrad, Glenn Hughes is great on this one. Last night I assembled our indoor/outdoor A/V system on the patio. Friends, family and neighbors were invited. We listened to a bunch of CDS' to and then at dark we watched Jurassic World. I know this isn't an A/V site so go easy on me. But I've got quite a cool little setup on the cheap. Good times. N |
faster61woman, Check out some of your postings. I really enjoyed Jimmy D. Lang. Starflyer is an easy listen. Howe Gelb and Neko Case are very good recordings, just not something that I would normally listen too. radfrad, I pulled up DP and "Hush" you referenced. It's great. Lots of energy on that whole recording. As far a them being in the Guinness Book for being the loudest, I would have to challenge that. That may be the official record, however I personally witnessed Wendy O Williams and the Plasmatics live at Bogarts in Cincinnati, OH. Literally holding my hands over my ears to pass the stage to go to the restroom. It was blistering. BTW, she used a chainsaw to remove the head from a Boy George manikin! Prog-rocker Steve Wilson (Porcupine Tree), Luminol....This song is 12:00 long, it's recorded very very well. I really like the driving bass and drums on this one. keyboards are frantic. It rocks! https://youtu.be/_w8SY_9yO8k N |
I posted this song on 6/20 but I just pulled it up again. It's by Steve Wilson. Very talented. Played with Porcupine Trees, Yes,Tull, King Crimson, Fish, XTC... I love the "driving" bass line in this song. It features Nick Beggs, some might know him from his big hair 80's days with the band Kagagoogoo. Solid performance all around. https://youtu.be/_w8SY_9yO8k N |
+2 on Collective Soul. Their CD's are recorded well also. Yes, Going for the one. 1977 features the return of Rick Wakeman. Hawkwind, In search of space, (Space rock, prog rock) This one is not everybody's cup of tea, Howerver it does feature Lemmy on bass.... Gennsis, S/T. Led Zepplin IV, More progressive rock. "Stairway to Heaven" probably the first song to be played on the radio longer than 4 min, right?! N |
facten, I caught the AXSTV Santana show also. Good to see Neil Schon playing again. That channel has some good programming on occasion. There is a Bob Dylan: 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration tonight. I also like to catch Live at Daryl's House on MTVL (I have Time Warner Cable, ch. 945). He is a Legend, very professional, his band is tight they have some great guests. Todd Rundgren was pretty cool. The audio is pretty good also. radfrad, Big Zepplin fan here! I recall hearing Stairs to Heaven on 8 track! N |
Chris Fury, From the darkness. Very talented guitarist. This track reminds me of Joe Satriani. https://youtu.be/J4Jnpi3JUq0 N |
Budgie, Impeckable. 70’s Welsh Rock Trio. This is the band that made Dave Mustaine want to be in Rock-N-Roll. They have about 20 albumns. Also another track, "Crash course brain surgery ". https://youtu.be/nrJOIXOldnQ N |
