Whats playing on your system today?

Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.

I listened to Trower songs:
Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....

Then I pulled out "Gamma".
I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....

Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?

nutty,

I've been listening to my new lp of Tanita Tikaram "Closer to the People".

What a wonderful artist! I've been around long enough to know that, especially with lps, when one hears of an interesting, obscure artist, jump on it quickly! I'm glad I did because I'm sure this is unlikely to be mass produced.

Pay back... The guy whose building my new phono stage, turned me on to an interesting artist... Katell Keineg. Her only lp was "Jet". I recently saw a sealed copy go for $100 on Discogs. Those of you who listen to cds, are in for a treat.
arcam88,

Thanks for the Beth Hart link.

I thought I heard Janis giving it a "Hell yeah!"
Mostly..I'd beg to differ on the MFSL "Katy Lied"...a major disappointment.

That's just my view.
nutty,

I think it does us all good to keep an open mind.

arcam88,

I call em' as I hear em'.. hope I didn't offend.

"Hair of the Dog".. a great lp IMO.
Cold Play  "A Rush of Blood to the Head"

Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins  "Rabbit Fur Coat"
I mentioned this one around 1 year ago..

Alice Cooper "Goes To Hell".

It's THE audiophile lp version of AC.
The recent death of Sib Hashian (RIP) had me listening to..

Boston "S/T"

then

Foreigner "S/T"

..also, I agree with you on "Free For All".

I use to own it. I think it was stolen decades ago. I'm going to look for a replacement tomorrow at a record show.
nutty,

You mentioned Triumph a couple of weeks ago. Well, I pulled out my "Never Surrender" and cleaned it today. Oddly enough, a local radio station played the title cut last weekend! I guess there's still hope?

I love this lp! Glad I didn't stop with "Allied Forces".
reubent,

I'm totally clueless on anything digital. I've been laser focused on vinyl playback all of my life. Even my new phono preamp, I had a volume control built into it as I don't use a line stage. My computer is in another room (desktop). Pretty sad, I know.

Thanks for the info.
reubent,

I agree with you on RP. If I had a different set-up, I'd listen more. I hate to sit in front of my computer to listen.

arcam88,

Appreciate to follow-up!

One of my recent record show finds. A clean copy of..

The Velvet Underground "VU" !
"Oh Well". Here it is, live!  Rarely found on their lps. The UK version of "Then Play On" has it.

Eels did a GREAT cover on "Cautionary Tales..."
......I mean, I'm a ROCK guy, but upon listening to the Vince Gill lp above. WOW!  what a superb artist!!!!!!

I hope I won't be ostracized!!
more record show stuff...warmed up my system with...

Boz Scaggs  "Middle man"

Traffic "S/T", the U.S. version on United Artist pressed at Bell sound.

Hot Tuna  "Double Dose/Live" /demonstration copy. Sounds REAL good!

another record show find... an extremely clean..

Fleetwood Mac "Live"  /1980.

Recorded at various venues from this tour. Amazing how consistent the great sound is here!
another record show find...

Vince Gill "The Things That Matter".

Don't dismiss it out-of-hand. Superb..great recording!
nutty,

I just realized my prior recommendation of Triumph "Never Surrender", never made it through the AG narcs.

A great lp!
nutty,

I think you'll have an interest in sides 2&3 of Hot Tuna "Double Dose/Live"!
