Most of those Unplugged CDs are sonically great. What did those people who recorded them know that nobody else seems to know?

Pink Ampex clamshell Cassette of Led Zeppelin Presence. Saints preserve us! The wheels were a little stuck, no big surprise, it’s 44 years old, a drop of Rock n Roll Gold bike lube (The King of Lube) fixed me right up. Hmmm, ferrite tape sounds great after all this time. Who woulda thought? Low distortion and dynamic range up the wazoo. Tremendous bass structure. Guess what? No tape hiss. Moral of the story: don’t play cruddy cassettes, play good ones.
