uberwaltz, Gary Moore is great and has been mentioned many times on this thread. That's a great set list. One of Moore's greatest influences was Peter Green of the original Fleetwood Mac. "...Peter Green's continued influence on Moore was repaid as a tribute to Green on his 1995 album Blues for Greeny, an album consisting entirely of Green compositions. On this tribute album, Moore played Green's 1959 Les Paul Standard guitar that Green had lent to Moore after leaving Fleetwood Mac. Moore ultimately purchased the guitar, at Green's request, so that "it would have a good home".[5] Listening to Rod Stewart, Every Picture Tells a Story. His best IMHO. And A Holiday tune from Rod, "Red-Suited Superman" https://youtu.be/WP5aWlm2YZ4 Happy Holidays! N |
My good friend arcam88 brought these to my attention this morning. "What makes John Bonham such a good drummer?" https://youtu.be/UvOm2oZRQIk Watch "Rick Wakeman and Jon Lord on Sunflower Jam 2011" on YouTube https://youtu.be/AsJApGdm97c Roy Buchanan, "Blues for Gary" https://youtu.be/WtqZjQtr5Bg N |
ghosthouse, Big fan of Roy Buchanan. Check out "Blues for Gary" https://youtu.be/WtqZjQtr5Bg Leslie West, Still Climbing N |
tomcarr, I agree- and a lot of Mr. Knophler's recordings are unparalleled. Today, more Roy Buchanan, Your Not Alone. Another masterpiece. Make note of his rendition of Neil Young's "Down by the River". Also recommended by bdp24, I listened to Danny Gatton, Crusin' Deuces. "Funhouse" and "Harlem Nocturne" are excellent tracks. N |
Fleetwood Mac, Rumours Depression and misery at its finest. arcam88, ordred a copy of the Triumph, In the Beginning disc you recommended. I had it on cassette years ago. Attended their show in Norwood Ohio. effischer, Bennet/Gaga is amazing. I mentioned that one earlier on this thread. Excellent recording. N |

pops, We’re talking close to 20 years ago, What I remember most about Days of the New was that while the music was great, they were very under produced. They were promoting their first albumn and they were very "raw". The lead singer was grungy, played very aggressively and was barefoot. The songs sounded like the CD but they didn’t have much stage presence. The drum kit was not even elevated. But overall, I like the them live. N |
slaw, Article on Ed K's split with Live. But have not heard any of his solo. Believe it to be Christian. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/ed-kowalczyk-opens-up-about-his-ugly-split-with-live-2013112... N |
Wishbone ash, also a favorite of mine. Just Testing- 1st "albumn" I ever purchased. I bought a used copy in Gulfport Mississippi on vacation many years ago. Cost me $2.00. What was cool about it? I already knew it was a great album because arcam88 played it for me many times while I was at his home. And they rock and they were one of the best early bands to have great dual guitars. "Living Proof" https://youtu.be/bDNGzX7rTxc Also I’m going through this new Satriani- again, What Happens Next. It’s excellent. It gets better and better the deeper you get into it. The title track is very engaging. "Cherry Blossoms" and "Smooth Soul", very nice...But check out Glenn Hughes on track 7- "Headrush". Along side of Joe, he lays down some mean bass licks around 50 seconds into the song, again around 2:20 and then at 3:00. N |
ghosthouse, Glad your enjoying JS- S/T, (1995). The CD is recorded very well. Worth getting a good copy if you get a chance. I like his new one but the self titled remains my favorite. It has a clean top end and black backgrounds. Keep spinning it. It will grow on you. Not a weak track on it, IMHO. "Moroccan Sunset" https://youtu.be/D5eBtMAcbFE N |
ghosthouse- slaw, Your very welcome! Thanks for the positive feedback. Julian Sas, "Is this what they call the blues" https://youtu.be/fhsdx6ICCmY N |
