Whats playing on your system today?
slaw, Never really listened to Sting outside of The Police. I did try on Lindsey Buckingham but he didn't do it for me. He's very talented though. I’ll check Sting and get back. Alvin Lee, "Outside My Window" https://youtu.be/XGEyya0z3HQ N |
Slaw, reubent What can I say? You guys layed it down today. I have one last post for now unless something pops up on my radar worth mentioning. Dee Snyder, "Mac The Knife". By the way, that's Mike Portnoy on drums. https://youtu.be/ZlptWs2Kxgo N |
slaw, I’m glad you enjoyed Tanita Tikaram. It’s not my usual guitar hero go to, but I like what I like. I try to keep an open mind. Thanks for the reciprocation of Kattell Keineg. She as fantastic as well. arcam88, I think Donald Fagan is a genius. ghosthouse and I discussed topic a while back. I like most anything by Steelay Dan. Countdown to Extacy is a fav. As for Aja, and Katie lied, I like both releases. However to reinforce what slaw might have eluded to, Wikipedia does quote this about Katie Lied..."Band leaders Walter Becker and Donald Fagen were unhappy with the album’s sound quality because of an equipment malfunction with the then-new dbx noise reduction system. The group has claimed that the damage was mostly repaired after consulting with the engineers at dbx, but Fagen and Becker still refused to listen to the completed album..." The album was reissued by MCA Records after ABC Records was acquired by MCA in 1979. Snowy White, "Midnight Blues" (2012) played with Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd I found a great Live video for this one, https://youtu.be/BlrtrP72Gdk N |

"Prime Mover" has a great groove. https://youtu.be/QsjwpAPyyEs And "Cherry Vanilla" is cool. https://youtu.be/oV12Z1pOStg N |
ghosthouse, I really liked BLS. Reminiscent of Liquid Tension Experiment. Anything with Tony Levin is usually very well produced. I agree with your song picks also. I believe they are the some of the best tracks. Thanks for the intel! arcam88, great selection as always! In keeping with the Tony Levin and Peter Gabriel theme, I listened to a Remastered version of "So" that is recorded very nicely. I really like this from Dalton Santos. astewart8944, Thanks for the info! And your recent set lists are great also. Physical Graffiti has always been a favorite. And Zep's "Since I've been Loving You" is probaly the greatest Zep song ever. Still holds up today. Believe ghosthouse and arcamm88 mentioned it recently. Today I'm into Wolfmother S/T. "Dimension" is a great cut. https://youtu.be/hcCEtIX4MXk N |
Boston, S/T One of the best recordings. Interestingly enough, Boston wasn't a real band. The albumn was recorded in by Tom Sultz alone on a multi track in his basement. What a fantastic and special sound! https://youtu.be/co_57iTPRv0 Tom was an Engineer and and inventor as well. Please view the links! https://youtu.be/R1c0Bx_StvE N |
John Geils of the J. Geils Band was found dead at his Massachusetts home by police Tuesday, authorities said. Police responded to Geils' home on Graniteville Road for a well-being check around 4 p.m., according to the Groton Police Department. Upon their arrival, police found Geils unresponsive, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The musician, whose full name is John Warren Geils Jr., was 71 years old. He is also listed as the homeowner of the house, police said. Geils' death is under investigation because he was alone at the time of his death, but a preliminary investigation indicates that Geils died of natural causes, according to authorities. Foul play is not suspected at this time. Further information on the incident was not immediately available. Geils was the frontman for the J. Geils band, best known for the No. 1 single "Centerfold" from its 1981 album "Freeze Frame." The band is a nominee for the 2017 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Rest in Peace. N |

Tears for Fears, Songs From The Big Chair. After listening to the albumn, I went looking for live performances and found this link. https://youtu.be/W4_mMl0B5mA It’s a live performance within a very intimate setting. They play the entire albumn and dicuss the real meaning of each song. Quality is good. I believe it’s on Spotify as well. |
astewart8944, Sorry for the delayed reply regarding Sir Elton John. I only recently received a copy of Tumbleweed Connection. arcam88 recommended it highly so I borrowed his copy. I agree its a very good albumn and a great recording as well. I’m an big Elton John fan, (outside of his movie soundtracts). I was fortunate to see Sir Elton and William Joel together in Louisville, KY. Great show! But when the dust settled, my wife and I both agreed that Billy Joel (The Piano Man!) had a the better show. Tons of energy. He had the crowd eating out of his hand and singing every word of every song. He played after Elton, so maybe folkes were more inebriated.... Today I listened to new Incubus 8. "No Fun" is side one, track one. Not bad. Might take a bit for the album to grow on ya. I know there are a few Incubus fans on this thread. https://youtu.be/xPqhjeUtr5U N |
